Samba 1.9.18p7-2 PDC & netlogon? or p8? or wait?
I have a linux system running Samba 1.9.18p7-2 smoothly right now, with perhaps 600 users. I have an NT box with 2 users, for a dedicated application, which is a PDC right now. I have ~300 Win95 client machines that I want to have do a domain login, authenticating off the samba box (running RedHat 5.1, btw) so that I don't have to replicate users onto the NT box when all they really need to

Samba and the PDC are fighting for being the Browse master, why?
Hello, in my log.nmb I regularly see these messages: process_local_master_announce: Server GUTENBERG at IP 192.168.35.90 is announcing itself as a local master browser for workgroup PIEZO and we think we are master. Problem with my 'master browser'
Hi! Configuration: NT1 (NT Server 4.0 SP4) Unix2 (samba 2.0.3) Is this a normal behavior? My NT-Server and my samba-server a fighting to be the master browser. Look also at my smb.conf [global]-section. The OS-Level of my samba-server is much higher. /var/log/log.nmb: ***** [1999/10/06 14:01:07, 0]

HELP -- upgrade to 1.9.18p8 causing print/disk trouble ...
I recently upgraded all our site's samba servers to 1.9.18p8, and I seem to be having many strange problems where they didn't exist before. I haven't made any changes to smb.conf. The biggest trouble I seem to have is that people can no longer access printers ... NT/95 just gives a generic "path to server not available" message. Some nodes even have trouble connecting

File Corruption in NT workstation but not Win95
Hi again folks... Just when I thought I had everything working great with samba mounts on an AIX 4.3 machine (after a lot of testing with a Win95 box), I went to do something quickly on a NT 4.0 workstation. I had some intallation programs in the shared directory that I had used to install programs on the Win95. No problem. I ran over to my boss' NT 4.0 workstation, opened the shared

Problem with domain controller & win98
Hi there, I set up my samba that it acts as a domain controller, when i start network neigborhood and click on the linux system and select netlogon ([NETLOGON] entry in smb.conf) i first had the problem with windows 98 that my password always was wrong. i fixed this with a registry setting (something with plaintext), now this part works. Promoting Samba to PDC in NT domain?
Hi, I've a Samba 2.0.7 server in a NT4 domain with PDC and BDCs NT Servers around. The network is subnetted into 255.255.255.128, the samba machine is in 192.168.1.229 while the PDC and BDC are in 192.168.1.44 and 192.168.1.78. When I created the samba box, I ran server manager in NT to make it a server, NOT PDC/BDC. The setup has been running for more than 4 weeks without problems. Today,

subset based on column names and then subset based on the inverse (grep?, or...)
I would like to be able to grab x and y columns out of a dataframe and then grab all of the columns that are not equal to x or y. I am sure that I am missing something easy. ftbr_UTM_downstream <- (structure(list(site = c("Jennie_Creek_Main_Stem", "Wolf_Pit_Creek_Main_Stem", "Little_Rockfish_Main_Stem_North", "Big_Muddy_Creek_Main_Stem",

Linear Model with curve fitting parameter?
I have a model Q=K*A*(R^r)*(S^s) A, R, and S are data I have and K is a curve fitting parameter. I have linearized as log(Q)=log(K)+log(A)+r*log(R)+s*log(S) I have taken the log of the data that I have and this is the model formula without the K part lm(Q~offset(A)+R+S, data=x) What is the formula that I should use? Thanks for all of your help. I can provide a subset of data if necessary.

nested ANCOVA: still confused
Dear R-users, I did some more research and I'm still not sure how to set up an ANCOVA with nestedness. Specifically I'm not sure how to express chicks nested within boxes. I will be getting Pinheiro & Bates (Mixed Effects Models in S and S-Plus) but it will not arrive for another two weeks from our interlibrary loan. The goal is to determine if there are urbanization (purban)

creating bins for a plot
Hi. I'm trying to plot the ratio of used versus unused bird houses (coded 1 or 0) versus a continuous environmental gradient (proportion of urban cover [purban2]) that I would like to convert into bins (0 - 0.25, 0.26 - 0.5, 0.51 - 0.75, 0.76 - 1.0) and I'm not having much luck figuring this out. I ran a logistic regression and purban2 ends up driving the probability of a box being

SWAT won't start
Hi, I'm setting up Samba on a RH ES linux machine. I have basic functionality working and can access a share from a Windows pc. I set up smb.conf manually. I'd like to use SWAT but when I try to run it I get the error: -- The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:901 -- I set up the xinetd configuration file exactly as I've seen online. Webmin works fine.

How to set Netscape enviroment on Samba home drive ?
> Does anybody know if it is possible to configure Netscape in such a way > that ALL netscape preferences and options (most important is email > address) will be saved on samba home ? You get this kind of stuff by default with roaming profiles.( ie user.dat or ntuser.dat ) If you are referring to netscape 4 then just point the profile to the home directory (mapped to a consistent drive
