Some basic questions
Hi, I''ve started learning about EventMachine right now and have some basic
doubts. Hope you could clarify them.
I''m developing a SIP server. For now I''ve started it from scratch but I expect
to migrate it to EventMachine.
SIP is a very complex protocol. For example: if I use a SIP proxy in front of
my server then all the data will arrive to my server using the same TCP

Purely numeric service name
Hi
I have a problem accessing NT boxes which have a service (host) name
which is purely numeric, smbclient insists on treating it as an ip number.
For example:-
/opt/samba/bin/smbclient \\\\06842\\BACKUP xxxxx -U xxxxx
returns :-

Connection to 06842 failed
I am using HPUX 10.2 and samba version 2.0.4b.
Surely it should be possible to connect to NT

Odd problem...no password authentication to shares?
Morning...
I'm having a problem that I'm finding to be quite disconcerting,
but fear it might just be a misunderstanding on my part.
I have Samba 1.9.18p8 installed on one of my Solaris 2.6 machine,
and, for some reason, if I change my password on the Solaris machine, I
can still map my drive without it re-asking me for my passwd.
For instance, I turn on my computer and connect to

Shares within Shares
Is it possible to have a share within a share, or to force group on
directories within a share?
What I am trying to do is set up departmental shares, but find that having
them all in the root list of shares looks messy (too many shares :P )
What would be preferable, would be to have a [departments] share, then put
a share for each department within that share.
Just using directories within

The way I deal with this is to use SetGID.
The way this works is that you set the setgid bit on a directory,
and any file or directory created under it inherits it's group, rather
than the primary group of the process creating it.
Directories created under this directory also inherit the SetGID bit.
This means that if you have one share, with all the top level
directories in it.

Under Solaris 7/sparc, I get:

smbd/connection.c:30: previous declaration of `utmp_yield'
381 has 'int pid', while 30 has 'pid_t pid' ... I changed 381 to reflect

[PATCH] new *br: Show handoff data
git://git.zytor.com/users/genec/syslinux.git
Branch handoff-mbr-for-hpa
This is a piece of code that can be used in place of a MBR or VBR/PBR
(master boot record; volume/partition) in order to examine the data
handed to the respective boot code. AX, SS, and SP are destroyed
before examining anything. I set an internal restriction that limits
it to 420 bytes such that it could be used with a

should dovecot store maildir files with CRLF or LF?
Hi.
I've made a strange observation.
When having Dovecot (at least) with maildir and moving (via IMAP) mail
received by some client (Evolution 3.4) into it the following happens:
Regardless of whether the mail was originally(!) set with CRLF or LF
(i.e. when I use netcat to submit the plain SMTP to the relaying MTA).
When the client (Evolution) had received the mail via POP3 before moving

fixcrlf doesn't seem to fix crlf
I installed Fixcrlf.exe from the Samba site. I tried it out on my NT 4.0
station, but it doesn't seem to accomplish anything. Specifically:
- I bring up a file in Notepad - the text is one long line with black
squares at the end of records, indicating that there are LF's but
not CRLF's.
- I drag the file icon from Explorer on to the FixCRLF icon and am
rewarded with an

How to set default font and the replacement font?
There are three fonts in c:\windows\fonts:
stxingkai.ttf simsun.ttf and simyou.ttf
If an application does not specify a font, then
stxingkai.ttf is loaded in it to show the text. If
I remove the stxingkai.ttf from c:\windows\fonts
then it use simyou.ttf to show text. If I remove
simyou.ttf again then it use simsun.ttf. But you
know, I hope the simsun.ttf is the first choice.

Problem with German Umlauts
Hi @all...
Following configuration i used before samba 3:
character set = ISO8859-1
codepage = CP850
I could read an write files with umlauts from my Win2k Client. Doing an
ls at the linux console showed a ? (question mark) instead the umlaut,
but using mc (Midnight Commander) shows the right char. I was quite
happy with this setup.
Now, with samba 3.0.0final-1 (from Debian/sarge), I tried

Inconsistent handling of CRLF in APPEND
One of the recent 1.0 commits relating to CRLF handling (maybe 2006-06-24)
has changed the behaviour of APPEND when using mbox files with ordinary
plain text emails.
When a client stores a new message using an APPEND command (eg. saving a
draft or copy of a sent message), it uses CRLF consistently as a
line-ending throughout the literal data block over the wire - both for the
header and the

Wrong headers in dovecot-crlf
Hello everyone,
I'm using the very good imaptest [0] tool to test my little imap server
implementation. I've tried to use the dovecot-crlf [1] file, but it looks like
there are some major issues :

Security related bug/issue ... or mis-configuration? (fwd)
As a followup to my own email...
We did some testing here today with connecting to the share from an NT
box, where we connect to \\relay\marc as marc when log'd in as a seperate
user...NT refuses to allow it.
Is there a bug with the server that, using smbclient from Linux, allows
you to connect to any share without a password? Can someone test this and
see if its a local problem or not?

It looks like that patch was created with the 'git diff' command and hence
cannot be applied using the 'git am' command. It does however apply using
the patch command.

CRLF/LF Conversion
Hi everybody!
I hope that you are not already "pissed off" of all the crlf/lf conversion
discussion between dos and unix ;-)
Concerning that topic I have a question / suggestion:
This is what we have:
We are using a Win NT 4.0 Server with Win95 clients. Additionally we have a
Sun (Solaris 2.5) running in the same network. To access the Sun in character
mode we use a terminal

Linux vs NT: a new test
Don't know how many ppl saw/read the following:
http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/news/0,4153,1015266,00.html
One of the comments on Slashdot was the question as to how well 4.4lite
would have done in the same tests, as they "theorize" that alot of the
problems revolve around Linux's IP stack...
Now if only we had a working MMAP, we'd be all set...
