".." not displayed with p8
Hello , I have installed the 1.9.18p8 release on my HP9000 ( HP-UX 10.20 ) . I use the same smb.conf than with the p2 release . I have now a problem with the Windows 3.11 clients : In the subdirectories of each share, I can't display the " .. " root directory . Is it a known bug or just an error in my smb.conf ? Thanks for your help. JF

IPTables log analizer
Tom\All Has anyone heard of this log analizer and have it up and running? If so is it easy to setup and use? Description form this page http://gege.org/iptables/ IPTables log analizer (TODO : find a nice name for it) displays Linux 2.4 iptables logs (rejected, acepted, masqueraded packets...) in a nice HTML page (it support rough netfilter logs but also Shorewall and Suse Firewall logs). %L, subnets and dns resolution Xmas problem
Hi, Using the %L macro in smb.conf is for me *very* usefull, I can setup as many logical servers as I need and that's great : no need for new machines, I can switch logical servers back and forth, it's a kind of System Administrator dream :-) *But* I've discovered a problem with the %L macro in a subnetted environment : - "hermes" is a Samba 1.9.18p10 server on a hpux

Create new data frame with conditional sums
Under the hood, sapply() is also a loop (at the interpreted level). As is lapply(), etc. -- Bert On Sun, Oct 15, 2023 at 2:34?AM Jason Stout, M.D. <jason.stout at duke.edu> wrote: > > That's very helpful and instructive, thank you! > > Jason Stout, MD, MHS > Box 102359-DUMC > Durham, NC 27710 > FAX 919-681-7494 > ________________________________ > From: John

connections always mapped to guest
I have setup Samba 2.2.4 on HPUX 11.0. I'm using it only as a print server. It appears that ALL connections are being mapped to "pcguest" regardless whether they are valid or not. I do not have a "username map" defined, "guest ok = yes" is set for my printer share. I am running winbindd, which seems to be working correctly. I ran the following command 5 times,

Shorewall-1.3.13
Just some stuff that was laying around in CVS: 1. Added ''DNAT-'' target. 2. Print policies in ''check'' command. 3. Added CLEAR_TC option. 4. Added SHARED_DIR option. [teastep@wookie Shorewall]$ cat releasenotes.txt This is a minor release of Shorewall that has a couple of new features. New features include: 1) A new ''DNAT-'' action has been

Create new data frame with conditional sums
Well, here's one way to do it: (dat is your example data frame) Cutoff <- seq(0, .15, .01) Pop <- with(dat, sapply(Cutoff, \(p)sum(Totpop[Pct >= p]))) I think there must be a more efficient way to do it with cumsum(), though. Memory usage in reload_services()
Hello, we are in troubles with smbd processes which are rapidly growing in terms of memory usage. We did implement a mean that gives us ability to dynamically mount or unmount samba shares. I prepared a simple script which demonstrates this very closely. Script loops following operations: - touch samba config file to make it newer - send SIGHUP to smbd process (kill -1 <smbd_pid>) -

This seems like it should be simple but I can't get it to work properly. I'm starting with a data frame like this: Tract Pct Totpop 1 0.05 4000 2 0.03 3500 3 0.01 4500 4 0.12 4100 5 0.21 3900 6 0.04 4250 7 0.07 5100 8 0.09

Problem in using rsync
Hi I use rsync to perform backup on disk on a SunFire 880 with Solaris 8. For performance issues, we launch simultaneously 5 rsyncs on 5 different fliesystems and about 150-200 "cp -p" commands on as many database files. We have been using the same scripts for about 2 months, without problems. The backup is performed on the same server (from filesystem to filesystem on the same

Samba and Windows CE
This is my first time posting to the digest, so I hope I get this right. CC:Mail is also giving me problems, so bear with me. I've come across a web page giving a link to Microsoft's written but unsupported Network Client for Windows CE. This lets a Windows CE palmtop browse Windows shares across a network. HOwever, the web page claims that it

login failures and system load
First, I _do_ believe Samba is better than sliced bread (hey - you can't get fat by using too much Samba :), and I have enormous admiration and gratitude for the Samba Team. (Okay, no, I haven't sent any pizza vouchers...) But, I've got a problem (what else is new?) Win 95 clients in our public labs/classrooms are experiencing failed logins for good accounts and occasional failures

chkrootkit 0.46 reboots FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE-p8
Hello, Please, don't use chkrootkit 0.46 on production machines. The "chkproc" process sends a SIGXFSZ (25) signal to init, that interprets this signal as a "disaster" and reboots after a 30s sleep. I'm contacting the chkrootkit maintainer to fix this problem. Sorry, Cordeiro

Samba 1.9.18p7-2 PDC & netlogon? or p8? or wait?
I have a linux system running Samba 1.9.18p7-2 smoothly right now, with perhaps 600 users. I have an NT box with 2 users, for a dedicated application, which is a PDC right now. I have ~300 Win95 client machines that I want to have do a domain login, authenticating off the samba box (running RedHat 5.1, btw) so that I don't have to replicate users onto the NT box when all they really need to

PC Backup Script?
I am trying to setup my Sun running samba 1.9.18p10 so that it can backup my dept's PCs. I can get it to work manually using the smbclient command with no problem. What I would like to do is have a script that is able to take a list of PCs, determine if a PC is online, backup that PC, then move on to the next one. If a PC is down, it can report an error to the admin to state that the
