Samba 2.0.3 and NT Clients
Hello everbody, I have a small problems with Samba 2.0.3/SuSE 6.1 and my Windows NT Clients: As long as I'm working with Win311/95/98 clients everything is OK, but when I try to connect with a WinNT 4.0 client, I get the following errormessage (translated from german, so the US message may sound a little different): Unable to connect to \\linux_server_01 Unable to log on with this account

Issue with old style dos truncation
Hi there. Recently upgraded from 2.2.9 to 3.05 everything is working great except for one small snag. I noticed it when working on the unattended Win2k installation, when it was copying a more than 8 Character Folder. Normally and certainly on 2.2.9 it would truncate the file name say from DellDrivers to DellDr~1 and would still work. However, it was truncating the file name to D1DRER~B (or

esfq experience anyone?
Hey, fellow LART controlllers, I''d like to ask if someome has a real esfq experience with HTB class hierarchy and esfq qdiscs. Lets say that I want to unite the connections to 10 client PCs with u32 or fw filters (doesn''t matter which one in fact) into one HTB class with esfq qdisc at the end. Did anyone tried it, and more important, did it worked the way it is supposed to? As

Favorite print command for SAMBA on Sol 2.5.1
I am having problems with the HP printers that are being handled by a Solaris 2.5.1 machine. The boring details are towards the end. The SAMBA print command I currently use is: print command = echo %u - %s to %p at %T >> /tmp/smb-print.log ; \ lpr -P %p %s ; \ rm %s ; These are EXACTLY the way they are in the smb.conf file. The server will print 99.9% of

Samba Faxing..........
Dear All, Has anyone come up with a decent faxfilter script that actually works when use Samba + Mgetty/Sendfax. I can print to Samba printers from Windows with no problems, and I can use the faxspool command to send postscript files as faxes from a Linux box. The only part I can't get to work is the vital link between the Samba printer and

fax serving
Newbie question: I have successfully set up a samba server for file & print sharing. What I'm not sure about is how to set up a fax server. Has anyone tried to do this? What all do you have to do, or maybe you could just point me in the right direction. =========================================== Charles Lewis, Director of Administrative Computing Southwestern Adventist University,

Problem getting win95 machines to change password
Howdy, I'm running samba (version 1.94) on a FreeBSD 2.2.6 machine. I've been playing around with changing passwords from windows clients. The relevant parts of my smb.conf are : # ENCRYPTION.txt, Win95.txt and WinNT.txt in the Samba documentation. # Do not enable this option unless you have read those documents ; encrypt passwords = yes #Enable windows clients to change passwords #unix

Samba+preempt bug in 2.4.13+preempt
Hi Samba gurus, need your suggestions on where to plant debug code in Linux kernel to stomp on a bug. Please read on: > I narrowed down Samba weirdness I observe on 2.4.10 to preempt patch. > Plain 2.4.10 works fine, 2.4.10+preempt (with latency measurement > turned on) is sometimes oopses, and sometimes reports 'file already > exists' when I attempt to copy a file from WinNT

Desperate -- I'll even pay -- winbind/samba -- challenge/response password authentication failed
No kidding folks, I need to get this working and am willing to pay money for useful help! I'm having problems getting "challenge/response password authentication failed" with the command "wbinfo -a DOM+W2kusername%password". I presume this will prevent me from using my Windows usernames and passwords to log into my Linux box. My environment is a newly configured Redhat

printer drivers question
I'm setting up faxing from our server using mgetty+sendfax, and the setup from http://relay.boerde.de:82/~horstf/ Basically, what this does is collect the print job normally via samba print services, then asks the user what number to fax it to. The asking is done by a program run on the user's system at startup called 'responder'. I have installed the print drivers on to the

Fax from Widows
Hey Guys We've been using the respond program with SMB fax services and it's worked pretty good. But I have one need which is not addressed by this software, which I'm hoping maybe I can pay someone to hack into the windows code. I need Respond to send a cover letter prior to being sent out, independent of the program queueing the print job in windows. I was thinking I might be
