Printing on Windows 95
Hi,
I have installed v 1.9.18.p3 for IRIX 6.2. I can share my files between

Problem connecting to samba shares
Hi all,
I have installed samba on my IRIX 6.5 system and configured the smb.conf
file but I get the following error each time I try to make a connection to
the samba share: "You must supply a password to make this connection,
Resource: \\topcondb\ipc$". I have added the Samba server to the NT domain
and I have also created a user account that is common to the NT domain and

Win98 and Samba 2.2.3a (PR#26045)
Hi !
I'm sending you all my test smb.conf and the log file generated with a
2.2.5rc4 installation.
The trouble is that I cannot create new directories (I'm using a WinXX
Italian version).
Then under Win98 I get the most strange behaviour. In addition to the
above, using win98 I can't copy files from the share to the local disk
(error 1026).
Please help

Problem with w2k machines.
We have motion capture machines trying to pull files from a server. The
current system uses Irix running 2.x and I am trying with my Linux box
and 3.0.2a. The loading of the files is quite slow, much slower then
when loading the same scenes being shared from a Windows machine. When I
use ethereal to watch the traffic, there's a lot of 512 byte packets,
and that stuck out as odd. I turned some

Subnet with no NT server
I'm having a problem connecting from an NT workstation to a samba server
on a different subnet. The NT workstation is the only Winxx machine on
its subnet. I set samba to remote broadcast directly to this machine's
IP address. I've also added this workstation to the lmhosts file on the
server and added the server to the lmhosts file on the workstation. The
workstation can see the

Samba 2.0.6 spools but doesn't print
When printing from Windows 95 to IRIX 6.5 Samba 2.0.6 spools
appropriately, but never prints. The sticky bit for samalp is turned
on, but does not seem to engage. When using the command directly,
everything prints fine. The config file is listed below. Any clues as
to what is wrong?
Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can provide.

data corruption on file copy
Hi, can someone please suggest what might be wrong with my setup?
Data read from a Samba share on a Windows NT 4.0 (SP6) system is
being corrupted. There is no corruption on data written by the
NT system to the share, only on reads. Also, it only happens for
files over a certain length (around 1/4 megabyte) and it happens
consistently. I'm running Samba 2.0.7 under SGI IRIX 6.4. My

account whic I use) I got an error messgae saying that it cannot change
the password. My goodness, I found that the instead of changing password

user are able to access "/" partition.
Hi All.
We have a samba server at our location. We are facing out with some
issue. User who have the account on the server are able to access "/"
root access.
I have tried to add an extra line In Home sharing, which is "path = %H",
this lined solved my issue, but gave other issue. After implementing
this line under Home share, I am not able to open any other user's

samba 2.0.6 on Irix 6.5.6m core dump problem (internal error)

It looks like every time smbd spawns, the child process seems to die a
horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.
The core file which I have examined says that the process died with

smbclient XP printing issues NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I am running the latest SCO unix and samba. I have multiple windows xp
machines with shared printers that don't seem to be working. I have win

worked fine, but not xp.
Here is the error I'm getting:

I'm a new linux user trying to run samba on Linuxppc R5 but smbd doesn't
appear to be responding properly. Both nmbd and smbd are configured as
daemons and netstat lists netbios-ssn as listening. I can't find anything
else that would conflict starting from inetd. Nmbd appears to work as I can
list the available servers and the server is seen by the clients but I don't

smbpasswd does not work for normal users in 1.9.18p4
Hi everyone,
It seems to me that smbpasswd does not work for normal users in Samba
version 1.9.18p4. If I invoke it as root, then there is no problem with it,
but if I invoke it as a normal user, then I get the following:
$ smbpasswd -D 99

New SMB password:
