Can't see all files on W95 client
I am running Samba 1.9.18p8 on Linux(Debian 2.0beta) with kernel 2.0.34 that has smbfs and the win95 bug work around compiled into the kernel. When I mount a W95(osr2) share with smbmount I can move around the directory tree with out problems but not all the directories are showing up in the directory listings. I can cd into the missing directories if I know the names. Is there a way to fix

Win95 and Smbmount
Hi, When I "smbmount" a shareable drive on my linux box, the result of the "ls" command is often false. (Kernel is compiled with "SMB Win95 bug work around" and "SMB filesystems support", Linux 2.0.34, RedHat 5.1, Samba 1.9.18p5) What can I do to solve my problem ??? Thanks a lot for your help. Michel

Samba 2.0.6 and PAM problems on Linux
I have installed Samba 2.0.6 and everything is working wonderfully except for some PAM authentication problems on my Debian potato samba server. When a client tries to connect to a share on my server I get lots of the following before I am ever asked for the password or the connection times out, this take a few minutes to happen. (My username is 'servis', my machine is 'brian',

bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use)
I can't figure out what is causing the error message of [1999/10/13 11:39:42, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(671) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use) in my logs and thus preventing smbd from serving up connections. How can I track down what is causing this? Samba has been working great and now I must have done something but I don't know what. The

How to increase the printing speed
Hi Brian, Thank you very much. Now I am able to the printer on Win95 box. But I don't know why the printing is very slow. Infact the printer waits for a while before taking the next page. Is there a way to increase the printing speed. Another important thing is that I cannot use any printer option in the printer panel on IRIX box. It says "printer type unkown".Is ther a way

inconsistent long filename saving problem
Ok, I am having a strange problem. Via my linux box I am sharing several vfat partitions and removable media(zip drive). They all have the same filename, case, etc. options but when the clients try to move files with windows explorer to the zip disk the client machine complains that the drive does not accept long filenames and asks for an alternative. The odd thing is the drive shows long

file permissions and smbmount
I'm using Samba 2.0.6 on a Linux server. When using smbmount or mount to mount a share from an NT server, how do I set file permissions. An older smbmount allowed a -d and -f switch to set the file permissions. The newest one does not support these. The man pages for smbmount and smbmnt mention using syntax that does not work. I finally have gotten the mount command to work, but now I

Problems with smbmount
I have a problem. When I mount my CD (witch is on WIN97 machine) using smbmount I do not see all files in all dirs. If dir have more then, let say, 100 files (it is not the same every time), I do not see all files. This is a problem because on my Linux box I do not have CD-ROM, so if I have to install some packages I first have to copy rpm files on disk, and then install them witch is annoying.

openssh 2.5.2p2/Solaris 5.8 problems
openssh 2.5.2p2 on Solaris 8 has PAM/cron problems. If I build it with PAM then cron quits working giving "cron audit problem." errors. If I turn PAM off then cron works but I get kicked out of any session where a password is needed (i.e. no .rhosts/.shosts or not using ssh-agent) with the message "Connection closed by IP#". I get through if I have a .rhosts/.shosts or use

smbmount, winbind and autofs
Hi all, trying to automount the homedir on login on a Linux client to a Win PDC (or Lin PDC for that matter) This semms like a bright a idea, because it enables me to replace any Win workstation with a Lin Workstation, but: 1. The password. Unable to give the password to autofs. .....but even so, if I cleartext the password into the autofsmap: 2. The share gets mounted by root, which

[patch] smbmount fixes for samba-2.0.7, testers wanted!
Hello all This patch tries to remove a few bugs from smbmount. It would be nice to get some testing+feedback on this from others using smbmount and possibly get these things fixed for the next release of samba. It does the following: * Change lib/debug.c to allow changing your mind on being interactive. A second call to setup_logging should now replace the effects of a previous call. (hmm,

smbmount from samba-1.9.18p8, Linux-2.1.107 and no joy
Hello all, after hacking around to get smbmount and smbmnt to get compiled on RedHat-5.1 I'm unable to use them. With the stock RedHat kernel and the old smbmount I used the following command line: smbmount //rho/homes /mnt/smb/homes -c pc-topaz -U pommnitz -u pommnitz -P mypassword Everything works fine this way (with 2.0.34). With 2.1.107 the new smbmount is required. As I said, after some

Managing Samba Active directory.
Replying back to the list :-) The Sudoers functionality is achieved by modifing the Samba schema, the sudo package itself distributes the schema change LDIF: $ rpm -ql sudo | grep schema /usr/share/doc/sudo/schema.ActiveDirectory /usr/share/doc/sudo/schema.OpenLDAP /usr/share/doc/sudo/schema.iPlanet Technically if you could find the correct schema to store autofs data in AD then it should work.

linux 2.2.x and smbmount 2.0.5a: Win95 bugfix?
I have become quite confused about the interaction of the kernel versions and the different versions of Samba and smbmount. I have just upgraded to a 2.2 kernel. 'make menuconfig' gave no choice by which to enable the Win95 bug workaround. At the same time, smbmount 2.0.5a, which seems to be the proper one for a 2.2 kernel (it's the latest provided by Debian, under the name

Owner of samba share nobody nogroup
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 using winbind to connect to an Windows 2008 AD server. I use autofs to map the home directories, the only problem is the owner is reading nobody nogroup. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? This worked in 10.10 Here are my config files. Let me know if you want to look at anything else. smb.conf ------- [global] security = ads realm = domain.com password
