Cannot change password
Server: Slakware Linux 2.0.30, GNU C 2.7.2.1 Samba 18p7
Server is not using PAM and is a ypclient.
Client PC's are DOS 6.20 with MS Client 3.0 and Windows 95.
I am having trouble changing passwords using the "net password \\<server>"
command from either DOS or Win95 command prompt. Changing passwords worked fine
using Samba 17p3.

Rotary phones? (No, I'm serious)
Will the FXS cards that work with asterisk handle rotary? Are there any
channel banks that can convert rotary to touch tone (like some sorta
bridge)?
The goal is to be able to log input from rotary phones. Full PBX
functionality would be nice but...
(It's for a project, not for serious production).

for 6 POTS lines with or an integrated T1 with voice and data. I called up

the rep that I needed two more lines with hunt group and she told me that

1950's UK rotary dial phone
Folks,
I've got one of those GPO 1950's rotary dial phones that I'm trying to
get working in the UK. I've got pretty much everything working with my
TDM400, the phone rings and I can receive calls but I cannot dial with
the rotary dialer. I have set pulsedial=true or whatever the exact
setting is and I can dial from the phone by lifting the receiver and
tapping out the number on

Rotary phone on Asterisk
I'm trying to use a couple of old Western Electric type 500 phones (desk
model, rotary dial). These phones work fine, as tested with telco lines
(they dial, receiver/transmitter works fine, etc).
I'm running Asterisk 1.6.2.11.
I can't get them to dial through Asterisk. They are connected to a Rhino
channel bank which is connected to Asterisk via a Sangnoma card (T1 with

Really Old Rotary Phone
Ok... I am not a telephone guy... I was born after rotary phones, so
forgive my ignorance in this matter. I am trying to get a really old
rotary phone up and running with an ATA. Why? Who knows... just
thought it would be cool. The problem is that it does not have an RJ11
connector, instead it has three wires (green,yellow,red). Does anyone
know what that type of connector is called? Or

Show specific printers only
Hi,
On our samba server (3.0.22-SuSE93) we have many printers installed with cups.
Most of them are RAW queues to use within Windows. A few of them
however, are filtered queues for Linux to use.
I would like to EXCLUDE the filtered queues so Windows users cannot
use them, but am not sure how to do this within the smb.conf.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,

the "#" in code generated by "link_to_remote"
Currently, helper "link_to_remote" generates html code like ''<a
href="#"....''
"#" is used for the link of "next" page.
So there comes a problem. "#" stands of the the starting point of
current page.
which means, if the ajax link is at the bottom part of the page, where
scroll bar
needs to be moved to see it, when the ajax

Using library in an example
Hi all,
I've been trying to include a nice example in the Rd file for a function
and cannot work out how to get it through R check. If I use:
if(require(maps,quietly=TRUE)) {
...
Warning message:
'Sys.putenv' is deprecated.
Use 'Sys.setenv' instead.
See help("Deprecated")
The warning message causes R check to get the tremors and assume there

Maximum kernel size
Hi,
I'm using Syslinux 3.11 on a 1Gb USB Stick.
The stick has 1 partition in FAT16.
I'm experimenting with initramfs stuff, and just built a small tree
(round 2.2M).
I just inserted the kernel modules into that tree, and it became
pretty large, with a resulting bzImage of 16.2Mb!!!
When I try to start that kernel, I get an error:
Invalid or corrupt kernel image.
Any idea's on this?

secuirty bug with /etc/login.access
/etc/login.access does not work 100% over ssh.
I have the following line in login.access

Which I believe means the user 'ray' can not login from anywhere unless
it is a local login.
So, I tested it over ssh from a remote box

Domain migration from 2.2.x to 3.0.x
Hi,
One of my customers is running a pretty old Redhat 8 (Psyche) server
with Samba 2.2.something (I think 7). Next week I'm planned to upgrade
his Redhat platform to SuSE 9.3 and also update his samba to 3.0.23b.
My biggest worry is that this customer has about 14 workstations
already in the 2.2.x domain.
I would like to know WHAT to do so I won't have to re-add all those
machines

Zoomable chart
Hi, I would like to create an interactive bubble chart from a Rails-
based database. I''ve spent quite a lot of time browsing the posts both
here and on rubyforums for similar queries, but haven''t really found a
definitive answer yet. I would like each point to be clickable, and
would like users to be able to zoom and navigate within the chart. We
would prefer not to use Flash for

inequality with NA
Dear everybody!
take a<-c(5,3,NA,6).
if(a[1]!=NA){b<-7}
if(a[3]!=5){b<-7}
if(a[3]!=NA){b<-7}
if(a[3]==NA){b<-7}
will alltogeather return
Fehler in if (a[1] != NA) { : Fehlender Wert, wo TRUE/FALSE n?tig ist
(or simularly). Somehow this is logical. But how else should I get out,
whether a certain vector-component has an existing value?
Thank you in advance!
Yours,
Mag. Ferri
