How to install network apps?
I'm trying to figure out an intelligent way to install apps on the network server, and be able to install once and have all the clients use this. However, it seems like most installations modify the registry and seem to demand a client-by-client installation. Am I missing something on this? Can someone provide me some hints or references to help this? (And is anyone thinking about a SMS/ZEN

problems with oplocks = false in 2.0 beta version
Hi Everybody, I seem to still be having problems with the caching of files on the PC. I have tried to set the oplocks = false variable in the smb.conf file but that has not seemed to help. Here is what I do to see the problem Open a file on the PC, the close it. Go to a unix machine and modify the file. Go back to the PC and re-open the file. I will get the old copy of the file for a few

Help with (hopefully) simple configuration problem
I have a (mostly) windows environment into which I am attempting to integrate a SAMBA based printer server (Solaris 2.5.1 SPARC). I'm running SAMBA 1.9.18p10. I need the print server to do two things: 1. Perform as local network browser/WINS server for the local subnet it is on (10.255.8.128/27) 2. Register itself and clients on it's subnet with the browsers/WINS servers/whatever

"because you dance to disco and you don't like rock" [Win2000 vs Samba/Linux]
Hey, so i finally got it working thanks to your list (found the right place for EnablePlainTextPassword here, the existing 3-4 matches in the default registry don't seem to do a thing). It was all brilliant. I got connected to all my 4 samba servers. I was happy... 'til the next boot (you know, during installation of system, boots happen). Now it connects to 3 sambas (1 on FreeBSD, 1 on

Redfone FoneBridge2 Quad T1/E1 Alternative
We have been using Red-fone foneBridge2 Quad T1/E1 for last few years. As these devices are not available anymore, we are looking for alternatives. Are there any similar devices available ? -- Regards, Tirveni Yadav www.udyansh.org What is this Universe ? From what it arises ? Into what does it go? failing connection
Hi, Last week I build a minimum net work. On a swich there is a firewall, a win98SE-box and a linux box as samba-server. Ping to each o these machines are going well. The Win-box 'sees' the filestructure of the linux-box. At the other hand the linux box can see neither localhost, the linuxbox or the win-box. I didn't configure winbind and LDAP. On all machines hosts and lmhosts are

Moving from Redfone's Fonebridge to Allo 2nd Gen PRI card
We have been running around than 40 asterisk servers running on Debian Squeeze for last three years, handling traffic of more than few hundred thousand calls per day. Our setup's PRI-banks were using Redfone's Fonebridge. We had PRIs from multiple telephony providers. And Redfone's Fonebridge handled all that easily. But all good things come to end. Redfone's Fonebridge was not

Mirror/Package problems in R 2.8.0
Hello all, I've searched the lists and the web and not found an obvious answer to this; my apologies if I'm overlooking something. I've used 2.6.x for awhile; this morning, after installing 2.8.0 on my Mac OS X 10.5.5 machine, neither install.packages nor the "Packages & Data/Package Installer" work and all of my previous packages (which had been installed

Problems with UNIX file permission
Hello, I need to serve one fileshare to different users in different groups ( I do so ). I gave different users different groups and told samba to make new files owned by user:group, mod 775. But now some users have the need to write in the directory of another group. Is it possible to force user and group per directory and not per share, or is it possible to create links in the filestructure

Hi! Did play around with queues and need some help. I thought that MEMBERINTERFACE and MEMBERNAME should be set to the ?device? the call was queued to not the device that called the queue, or do i miss something? CCM 6 and Asterisk routing again
Running Cisco Call Manager 6.1 and Asterisk 1.4. CCM is connected to a T1, Asterisk is running strictly VoIP over the network and using CCM as the trunk. Calls from the SIP phones connected to Asterisk work fine. They can call both external numbers and any Cisco extensions attached to CCM. Calls from CCM to Asterisk fail without any notification in Asterisk (and I DID have this working at one

My /var filestructured is mounted at /dev/hdc1 Part of my /etc/mtab looks like this: /dev/hdc1 /var ext3 rw 0 0 I'm using the e2fsprogs-1.23-2 package currently installed with Redhat 7.2 So, could anyone give me a hint of how things could be done to find deleted inodes? [LLVMdev] llc -march=ia64 support
Hi, For the PyPy project ( http://codespeak.net/pypy ) I am working on the x64-64 support. I would like to use llc -march=ia64 to generate the assembly but that is not supported at the moment. As a workaround I let llc generate C code that gets compiled, but this unfortunately is not a good way to show the power of llvm. A understood this ia64 support will be worked on soon. Multiple sites, same extension
Finally got my Cisco Call Manager link going; what it turned out to be was having the same extension on the Asterisk system and on the Call Manager side of things. Changing the extension on one side fixed it. Which brings me to... I need to have the same extensions on two sites. So if I use an 8bbbeeee dialing plan (8, then bbb location, then eeee extension), site 1 might dial: 8-099-2000 Site

Hierarchy separator and LAYOUT=FS change
Hello, I stumbled across a 5-year-old post on the dovecot list about changing the dovecot hierarchy separator to enable shared mailboxes (http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-January/056201.html <http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-January/056201.html>). Call Manager as trunk
I have Asterisk 1.4 tied via SIP to a Cisco Callmanager 6.1 system. Calls between the systems (ie. extension to extension) work perfectly. However when I attempt to make an outside call from an Asterisk extension through Call Manager to the outside world, it connects but only for a few seconds, and on the Asterisk console I get: Got SIP response 503 "Service Unavailable" back from (ip

CCM and multiple trunks
Okay, another Cisco related issue (sorry!). Single Asterisk box at location 1. Single Cisco box at location 2, however the Cisco is also the PBX for location 3 (same physical machine, calls routed via VoIP). Trying to have Asterisk be able to call EITHER Call Manager location. The single SIP trunk in CCM (version 6.1 mind you) only allows a single device pool to be selected. So configuring calls
