Is there any way to set up a backup WINS specification in dhcp/Win NT/Samba? Having my WINS server go down the last few days made this a little more desirable, especially since when I noticed the service was dead, I wasn't able to reboot it for a few hours due to usage. Login goes fine, internet IP stuff works fine (like e-mail & Web), I can mount shares by name, but Windows Explorer browsing comes and goes. In using 3Com 905/905B's I find the drivers that come with Windows 95/NT don't find Linux or NBT machines properly, but upgrading to the newest drivers at 3Com's web site fixes the problem. No changes to any of the configuration settings. I don't know what other cards have this problem, but ALWAYS upgrade to the most bug-free version of a driver and software before giving up. --

I'm trying to figure out an intelligent way to install apps on the network server, and be able to install once and have all the clients use this. However, it seems like most installations modify the registry and seem to demand a client-by-client installation. Am I missing something on this? I have a login script in \\server1\netlogon\script.bat (on my PDC and BDC) that runs "net use" commands to map some shares in time of the logon. Hi there, I have a Samba PDC and BDC migrated from NT4 using ldapsam with an interdomain trust to a 2k3 domain. The trust is established both ways and was made from the pdc. Using samba 3.0.14a-sernet on Suse 9.1 The trust is working. I can pull users from the trusted domain and apply them to acls on my samba DMS. Winbind adds the idmap entry correctly. What is not working, is authentication from
