LOTUS 123 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0
If a user saves a file in Lotus that they don't own, the file
writes and the timestamp updates, but they get this error:
Directory Entry Update Error
The help on this topic says:
You used File Save As to save a file on disk or to extract data to a file
on disk and the network software did not update the directory.
Reconfigure the network so that directory updates are not deferred.

mail-cache-transaction.c error
Hello all. I've just recently (this last weekend) migrated to Dovecot
on my FreeBSD 4.x box. So far, so good, I like it a lot, and plan on
moving mboxes to Maildirs sometime this next weekend.
BUT....I've currently run into a problem. I'm seeing an error when
one user account tries to access the INBOX from Squirrelmail:

Samba Stopped Connecting on Me and I don't know why
Hello All,
I am having a problem trying to ger Samba wot work again. It was
working a few days ago and now it has stopped. My OpenVPN is working
just fine but Samba does not seem to find the names.
I was also trying to set it up so that the users could browse to our
PeoplesQuest workgroup after which they could login to their account.

I'm using the latest version of dovecot on my FreeBSD 4.x box with
OpenPKG to keep other services up to date. Now...I'm able to get pbsmtp
to allow relaying through postfix on this server using UW IMAP, but I
would like to get dovecot working with relaying...but pbsmtp is not
adding the ip when I uncomment the dovecot section after I authenticate.

strange permission denied problem
I built an embedded box which uses mount.cifs to mount network
shares. I've shipped several of these and all are working fine except
for one, which gives me permission denied on certain files:

Photos-Scully# cat "Office Pics 002.jpg" > /dev/null

I'm curious about exactly what this means in my log:

Now...does Dovecot ONLY log the names of users on successful attempts? Is
this "Disconnected" log entry an indication someone ran a

Weird Samba issues
I manage a Samba server that has been working nicely for a couple of
months (after it replace the old Samba server which worked happily for
years). We use LDAP for accounts, but don't use domain logons or
anything fancy.
All users have their home dir on Samba mapped to drive 'M:'. In their
home, there are symbolic links to various directories they're entitled
to access. Links

AW: Cant browse network
Hi,
I cant find any wins options in your smb.conf.
I think you?ll need Wins for proper Network browsing.
Maybe this Link would help you: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NetworkBrowsing.html

Strange samba problem with Win XP
Hello list,
I don't know what is breaking my samba box but I am really very
worried and confused !! My samba server has no problem with linux
client. "smbclient -L <samba IP> -U <samba user>" runs well. No
problem at all. But whenever I try to access the shares from Win-XP it
reports that "path not found". And after repeatedly trying the same

Unable to join domain : Migrating from Ubuntu to CentOS (WinXP Client)
Hi,
I am migrating a ubuntu server to a centos one. The ubuntu server is
working and new server even tough it's running I can't join the domain from
a new machine. The new server is not on production so the client (win xp)

I have a domain named ADAMSTEST with the LDAP/PDC being
gomer.mdah.state.ms.us ip 10.8.3.37 and the BDC bldg2.mdah.state.ms.us

wins: no nmblookup on 192.168.1.255 but 192.168.1.2
Hi,
here is a client computer and a server computer (Debian Wheezy, armel,
samba Version 3.6.6, IP address: 192.168.1.2, Name: xyz).
Problem: wins doesn't answer nmblookups by the client on the broadcast
address:
client$ nmblookup -S xyz
querying xyz on 192.168.1.255
name_query failed to find name xyz
Why is that so? How to fix this?
When I specify the the server IP I do get an answer:

Is anyone using asterisk in a small call center
Hello - I have just joined the lists and am considering installing quite a
few * systems.
I am looking for an IP-PBX with both solid standard features and
call-center/ACD features.
I have read the documentation and the list archives and did not see any
references to real call-center type reporting and queuing.
Is anyone out there using * in this kind of environment? The features I
