2 servers won't sync browse lists accross network
We've got two samba servers either side of a modem link and I'm trying
to get them to sync browse lists. Using remote sync and friends the
servers try and sync but invariably each time one does the other end

remote subnet browsing and NT4.0SP3
Hello,
I have a samba 1.9.18p4 server running as a domain master browser on a subnet,
with some clients distributed on other subnets.
If there are only Win 95 clients on a subnet, browse sync works - but not if
there are Win NT 4.0 SP3 machines on that subnet.
Error from nmdb (at log level 3):

Samba 1.9.17 server is not showing up in PDC browser list.
Hi,
I've just upgraded to Samba 1.9.17, but I can't get my samba server that
resides in a differnet subnet to show up in the PDC's browse list. I've got
samba configured as the local browse master and am registering with the wins
server with:
domain master = no
local master = yes
preferred master = yes
os level = 65

won't sync browse lists accross subnet
Folks,
I'm confused with those whole samba/security thing. I'm running the
latest SAMBA without encryption and default share security. As a
result, I can't get my NT PDC to sync browse lists with my samba

WINS isn't working correctly and I think somebody is trying to exploit a security hole...
Pardon the long log file but I'm fairly new to WINS servers and probably
don't know what I'm doing.
We've have two subnets (lets call them xxx.xxx.xxx.??? and yyy.yyy.yyy.??)
I have one samba/linux server on both networks xxx.xxx.xxx.2 and yyy.yyy.yyy.2.
xxx.xxx.xxx.2 is set up to be a domain master and yyy.yyy.yyy.2 is setup to
be a local master with xxx.xxx.xxx.2 as its master.

Sync browse list between multiple workgroups?
(Samba version 1.9.18p4)
I want to set up my environment thusly:
- 2 workgroups, each composed of multiple subnets.
- Each workgroup has a DMB and a WINS server (Samba only - no NT)
- The two workgroups should collate browse lists so that clients on
either workgroup can browse and connect to hosts on the opposite workgroup.
I've read the documentation in BROWSING.txt and it does not appear

I am getting "sessionsetup failed: ERRSRV - ERRbadpw (...)
Could someone help me to connect FreeBSD 3.1 Unix (& Samba) with Win 98se (with all updates posted)? The error has to do with ...(Bad password - name/password pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.). I have read till my eyes are falling out. I have done the diagnosis and all works except the password problem. My Win box has the Samba Server in its network neighbourhood, etc.

XP Can't Join Domain
I am running Samba 3.0.2 as a PDC on a Fedora Core 1 machine using openldap
as the password backend. I think I've got all the openldap stuff working. I
can log in, ssh, etc. using ldap accounts.
When I try to join an XP machine to the domain, I get an error on the XP
machine that reads: The following error occurred attempting to join the

net password from OS/2 client
I am trying to get 'net password ...' to work from an OS/2 client to a Samba
3.1.15 server. However, I get an Invalid Password error whenever I run net

DEBUG_PASSWORD on in the build and tracing set to 100 I ran 'net view

building under NetBSD
I am successfully able to build today's theora_cvs_snapshot under
NetBSD/i386 1.6 with SDL disabled. (I haven't tested yet.)
I was unable to build with SDL:
player_example.c:52: sys/soundcard.h: No such file or directory
I see the source says it is OSS-specific for now.
This is what I did to make it build:

Clients can find printer when "browsing" but not otherwise
I had a working Samba installation on my home network. Then I replaced one
printer with another. The new printer is successfully installed on my RedHat
9.0 system on /dev/lp0. It is an Epson C82. From the RedHat system all is
well.
However, I am unable to print to this printer via Windows XP boxes on my
network. Samba is working to the extent that Windows can find these printers

format of http stream?
I am streaming ogg via inetd. Basically, I am outputing like:
oggenc -Q -b 1 -o - /some/wave/file.wav
This works fine with ogg123 (other than that I want the bit rate to be
lower than 55-100 range that it is doing).
I am using:
Ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0rc2
OggEnc v0.8 (libvorbis rc2)
But, FreeAmp for Windows slowly buffered up to 100% then said "Skipped
Corrupted File".

observations on nt smb support = no
We use Samba 2.0.6 as server, the clients are about 10 NCD WinCenter
(NT 3.51 multiuser, WinCenter 3.0.34 based on Citrix WinFrame 1.6)
machines with about 70 concurrent users each and several WinCenter (as
above) and NT Terminal Server (NT 4.0 multiuser with
MetaFrame/WinCenter (X11 addon)) machines.
The 2.0.6 smb.conf manpage says:

domain_master_node_status_fail
I'm trying to set up Windows browsing between subnets. I've set up a domain
master/WINS server on the .0 subnet, and local masters on the .42 and .254
subnets, and I'm running into the above error on one - just one - of the
subnets. The strange thing is that I'm running exactly the same version of
RHEL on another subnet - and I'm getting no error.

Weird Samba Browsing Problem
If anyone can help me with this problem I'd appreciate it. I've searched
the archive and not found anything that looks like the same problem.
I have a FreeBSD4.6 machine running Samba 2.2.5 our of the FreeBSD ports
collection. This machine is acting as a PDC for a domain called labs. The
machine is configured as the Domain Master browser and Local Master
browser. We also have some
