Controlling smbclient from python weirdness
I've written a python wrapper around the smbclient program, so that I
can list/upload/download from Windows shares.
Using smbclient 2.0.9 or Version 2.2.5-2 for Debian, my wrapper works
well and is able to control the smbclient process via pipes well. With
both smbclient 2.999+3.0cvs20020723-1 and 2.999+3.0.alpha20-3 (on a
Debian box) the smbclient responses appear to be not always BEFORE the

'deadtime' in Samba 3.0.13
Hi,
I currently have deadtime = 15 in my smb.conf. This featured worked good to
disconnect clients that have been idle for > 15 minutes in the past. With
the 3.0.13 version, it seems to do nothing. As in, it just keeps the user
connected indefinitely.
Here is what I see when no one is currently at the office and everyone is
logged off their computer.
Thanks

smbtar skips files, why?
Hello,
I'm using Samba version 1.9.18p10.
I am trying to backup a Win95 disk with smbtar, but it skips lots of files
without any apparant reason. For example, I have a directory C:\Acrobat3,
with various subdirectories. With smbclient I can see and browse them just
fine:
smb: \> cd Acrobat3
smb: \Acrobat3\> dir

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
Hey,
Yes, we been just using a simple source client connecting directly to our
icecast server for years. These being a simple free solution. Also works
with other free and paid for products too. Your milage will varry with
each program, and what features it will offers.
For dynamic IPs you can use a service like noip.com. There are a few of
them to choose from. IT allow you to give your

trouble in setting jpeg a large size
I met a trouble in setting jpeg a large size. for example, when i use
jpeg(height=65526), a problem "Error in devga(paste("jpeg:", quality, ":", filename, sep = ""), width, :
unable to start device devga In addition: Warning message: Unable to allocate bitmap" occurs.
if a smaller size is set, no errors occur.
I'm using R 1.8.0 on win2k.

over quota issue
I have a situation where if a user is over quota and sending through postfix
I get an error, now this error only happens if the user is over quota,
otherwise it works with no problem. However if sending using
/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda it works every time even if
overquota, any ideas? I just can't seem to figure this one out.
TIA, Paul

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
It does not matter what IP BUTT has, it sends to the fixed IP at the
studio on port [ 8000 ] with a mount like /liveBroadcast.mp3

RHEL connundrum with df and du
Hi All
I am having an issue with disk space and since it is happening using an
ext3 formatted partition I felt that this would be the most appropriate
list to post to.
The problem is this; I have access to two RHEL systems (one running RHEL3
and one running
RHEL4). Both are in the same company and both exhibit the same problem
that I have not seen anywhere else before.
Both have full /

pose some interesting questions. As a quick and dirty estimate if you
assume one of the standard small ec2 instances could cope with 100
simultaneous g711 calls (I don't know if that is the case just
guessing) then you'll chew up approx. 2MB/s (you pay for bandwidth
both ways). Assuming that you'd then have 1MB/s average to account for
quite and busy call times then it would be

We do a bit of pre-show calibration with folks at the station to
determine how long the delay ("latency" in digital-speak) is at the
start of the remote broadcast, and start

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
Right, BUTT can be set to push to studio, and studio's IP is fixed.
It doesn't appear that Icecast Master can push to a Slave at studio,
Slave at studio has to pull from Master, and Master's IP address is not
fixed. So for our remotes, BUTT is the better choice for that, and all
the other reasons you mention.
Plus, when you are recording eight bands in a 12-hour broadcast day,

Speed problem on Alpha system and solution
Hello Samba-bugs,
My smtp server does not recognize samba-bugs@samba.org to I send it
to samba@samba.org

RAM and running Compaq Tru64 (Digital UNIX) OS.
First I am using Samba 2.05a, and it's read speed or write speed is
very slowly on some client PC, it's about 500KB/s. Some PC works

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
ok let see if I can translate it to broadcaster terms for ya :)
A icecast server can be set up to accept direct source connection. ie dark
ice( which i do agree runs better on the machine where icecast server is.
) I do use it to trans-code the mount to different encoding.
THe icecast server can also set up as a relay, where it pulls in from the
another server. Primary used to pull the stream

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
Ha! Terms even a broadcaster can understand! Many many thanks.
If BUTT is considered to be as good a transporter as Icecast, then I
will stick with what I'm doing, if for no other reason than, "Master is
the source server (where the source comes from) and Slave is the relay.
THe connection is initiated by the slave to the master."
Slave may not know where the Master is. Master

Server kicking clients off
Thanks, Brad -- I first turned to VLC but my stream-client device is a
Raspberry Pi 3, and there doesn't seem to be a build for the device.
That said, I just stumbled across mpg123, a command-line mp3/stream
player that has audio buffer and timeout setting which so far looks
quite robust.
For Icecast2 content, when Icecast kicks a client off for being "too far
behind" -- what
