ipconfig bug with multiple interfaces
Hello, if ipconfig is run as ipconfig :::::: (i.e. long spec with all fields empty) and the computer has multiple network interfaces and only one of them is connected to dhcp managed network, ipconfig ends up in an infinite loop (see the log bellow). The following patch solved this for me. According to README, if the <device> in the long spec is empty, the first interface should be

Problems with the borders (High difficulty)
Dear r-help members, Could any of you help me with this model, please? This model gives error when some value touch whatever border and I do not know how to correct it. The 80% of the seeds produced by a plant will fell into the parent cell, the 15% in the first ring according to the king movement (in chess), and a 5% in the second ring defined by the queen2 matrix. Someone said me the functions

Weighted Average application on Summary Dataset
Hi, I have 2 huge datasets - May and Jun - a miniscule sample of one is given below. I am trying to do 2 things with these datasets. I need to verify if the weighted average of variable A for a Reason in Jun is same/different from the same for May. To do this I am first computing the weighted average for each SubReason using a function I wrote. Where I need help is applying the function on both

rasterize SpatialPolygon object using a RasterBrick object
I am trying to rasterize a SpatialPolygon object by a RasterBrick object. The documentation of the raster::rasterize function explicitly says this is allowed. Here's what I am doing # load the raster package library("raster") # create a raster brick object using the example from the brick function documentation b <- brick(system.file("external/rlogo.grd",

Word97 SR2 error while working on a doc stored on a Samba PDC share
Hi, I support around 15 Windows 2000 Clients who log into and have home directories on a Samba PDC running under RedHat 7.3. The version of samba I am using is 2.5.5. All the clients use Word97 SR2 and they all get the following error while working on documents stored on their home directories on the PDC: Word failed reading from this file (filename.doc). Fix syscalls with more than four arguments on parisc
Reimplement __common_syscall in assembler. The 32-bit ABI says that the fifth and sixth arguments to the function are passed on the stack, but our syscall ABI says they are passed in %arg4 and %arg5 like the 64-bit ABI. Also, tried to optimize the code slightly by making use of the cmpb delay slot to load the errno return of -1. Signed-off-by: Kyle McMartin <kyle@parisc-linux.org> diff

r1000 Driver
I'd like to add a page for the Realtek r1000 NIC driver for the RTL8110SC (and others) chipset. This driver is not included in the kernel. I've previously posted to the general mail list: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-February/075383.html I'm guessing this would go in the HardwareList section. Otherwise a page titled 'Realtek r1000 Driver' would work. my

Paranoid Firewalling
After reading this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/31/blocking_chinese_ip_addresses/ I got to thinking that there is really no reason for *any* traffic to hit my servers that comes from anywhere outside North America. So I wrote the perl script at the end of this posting to extract selected IP ranges posted at iana.org and convert them into iptables rules blocking any traffic

overplots - fixing scientific vs normal notation in output
Moving from S-plus to R I encountered many great features and a much more stable system. Currently, I am left with 2 problems that are handled differently: 1) I did lots of "overplots" in S-Plus using par(new=T,xaxs='d',yaxs='d') to fix the axes ->What is the workaround in R ? 2) In S-Plus I could fix "scientific notation" or "normal notation" in
