Serious cross-subnet browsing question
I've been having troubles getting cross subnet browsing working in
existance with a WinNT domain master (hey, it's not my machine).
Basically what is happening is that I am trying to setup a VPN (which
shouldn't complicate things) that browsing will work across. The idea is
this:
There is an office in my local city that I'm connecting San Francisco to
via VPN. The TCP/IP part is

low bandwidth broadcasting using ices2
Is there any way to bring the bitrate in ices2 down below 32 kbps?
I'm setting up a demo for someone of how to use linux to do net radio
broadcasting. The setup I'm thinking of is to use ardour plus jack to mix
two (maybe more) input sources (live audio and recorded
tracks/programmes), then send the mixed audio to ices2 for streaming to
icecast2, using the jackified version of ices2. This

NetBios name <1b> type record (Neighborhood browsing) !
Questions are about <1b> NetBios type record name for workgroup (for
workgroup, not for node) .
There is local subnet with Samba4 as DC (either Win NT or Win NT+) for
mdom.net domain, and as following, there is mdom workgroup in neighborhood.
But there are some other domain and/or non-domain workgroups in the subnet
which Samba4 does not belong to.

Cleaning up Network Neighborhood
I couldn't find anything like this in the archives, although it must be
there. We are running Samba 2.0.7 on RedHat Linux 6.0 using Windows 95
clients.
Our Network Neighborhood is filled with workgroups that no longer
exist. In some cases, someone connected with a laptop that was in a
certain workgroup and it was added to the list of our workgroups. Even
that that person has been gone for

Can't browse network neighborhood after changing network address on server
Hi I'm resending this message in the hope that i can at least find out
out if nobody has run across this problem. It is quite a serious problem
since we deploy many samba servers frequently. If no one on this list
knows the answer(or the answer is obvious) please point me to the
appropriate list.
I seem to have a recurring problem with browsing the network.
I set up a file server in my

Broadcasting DTMF to confbridge users or DTMF passthrough
Hi,
Trying to properly broadcast / relay DTMF digits to other confbridge users, but does not appear to work. Goal is to have a conference user be able to receive the DTMF, so it has the effect of being 'broadcasted.'
I have the following set up in 'confbridge.conf':
dtmf_passthrough=yes
From logger.conf, I can see the DTMF tones via setting "console => dtmf". When

live broadcasting my lecture about icecast2
Hi Icecast-Mailing-Group,
I am going to hold a lecture about the audiostreaming technology (Icecast)
we are using at our University Radio Station. The lecture is broadcasted to
the internet and it is taking place tomorrow, June 29th, starting at 17:30
(5:30 p.m.) CEST. Unfortunately the lecture is going to be in German but at
least it might be interesting to all the German Icecast User. Find more

No Network Neighborhood Appearance
Hi,
This is my first SAMBA 2.0.0.0 install under AIX 4.3.1. I can find the
server in Win95 via menus START:Find:Computer. If I double click the
Network Neighborhood icon the SAMBA AIX server is not showing. Should it
work this way?
Thanks,

Could you show us your entry in ups.conf for the dummy ups ?
If you have an entry "port = file" in that section of ups.conf, could you show
us the contents of "file" ?

Access Win-95 Network Neighborhood via Linux PPP Server
I don't know if this is Samba related, but I figured those monitoring
these lists were the experts at Win-95 networking and Linux/UNIX TCP/IP.
I have a RedHat 5.0 i386 machine acting as a PPP server for Win-95 dialin
users. The only Win-95 service running is TCP/IP (no IPX, no NETBEUI), so
users can POP their mail, telnet to machines on the LAN, etc.
The next hurdle is to allow Network

No network neighborhood
Recently, we made a switch from 1.9.18 to 2.0.3.
Under 1.9.18, we had local master turned off to prevent a
browser election war. However, under some network configurations,
(where the system was alone on a Workgroup), the system would, quite
appropriately, not appear in the network neighborhood.
So for 2.0.3 we changed the config file to allow election participation
(local master = yes).

Mapped network drives still work.
They reappear if I restart the pc
They reappear if I restart Samba
Its only a small home network so I do not log in to a domain.
