Shadow and OpenLinux
Hi all: I'm running Caldera OpenLinux with kernel 2.0.29, shadow password and quotas. The shadow kit is 980403 and is working fine. Well, when I try to compile I got this output : ------------------------- Begin Compile output ------------------------ Using CFLAGS = -O -DSMBLOGFILE="/usr/local/samba/var/log.smb" -DNMBLOGFILE="/usr /local/samba/var/log.nmb"

last desperate plea for help with NetWkstaUserLogon
I posted a message about a week ago concerning my ongoing battles with NetWkstaUserLogon (aka networkstation user login). I would be very grateful for answers to ANY of my questions... We have 1.9.18p4 on Solaris 2.6. We are doing pass-through authentication (security=server, password server = <NT PDC>). It will allow administrators to login, map drives, etc. etc. However, non

Help! Problem with Samba 2.0.5a + WinNT4.0 SP5 (process 7281 no longer exists)
Hi All! Help! can anyone tell me what this message means? I'm running samba-2.0.5a. It sort of works, I can mount a samba drive from WinNT and run programs stored on the samba drive, but when I try and open an oracle form file on the samba drive, form reports an error opening the file. Help! problems with Arcserve. Can someone decrypt the logs ?
Hi everyone, We use samba 2.0.4 and are very glad of it. However, recently I had to add a backup facility on our network, so we plan to purchase Arcserve IT for NT, in order to backup our servers. We are using mainly 3 Linux servers and 1 NT server, which runs the backup service. However, as Itried to add a simple share on the file server to enable backup, later I encounter problems with

Share modes problems
Hi all, I'm having a problem with share modes (at least I think it's share modes) on my samba server. The problems only seem to have manifested themselves since I updated to samba 2.0.0. This has coincided with an upgrade to our system, so it is conceivable that the problem may be with that, but I think it more likely that it is to do with samba (since errors are reported in the log

FAST_SHARE_MODES
Hi, How do I enable FAST_SHARE_MODES? In UNIX_INSTALL.html I found (...) See also the FAST_SHARE_MODES option in the Makefile (...) but in my Makefile I didn't found this Flag, even though I read somewhere that this Flag is set as default when compiled for Linux systems. Where and how exactly do I set this Flag? I have a Linux SuSE 8.0 on x86, but when I call 'smbclient -L

I'd like to second this question! Also, just in case that it will not become an smb.conf parameter: can't it be added as a comment to the Makefile (probably near the comments to

Error connecting Win95 box to Linux.
Could anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong here? I'm using samba-1.9.18p8 on a Linux 2.0.32 box, RedHat 5.0 install. I can descend into this share from a WinNT box just fine, but get the following error messages from a Win95 box. smbstatus getting a SIGBUS error
Somemore information regarding the smbstatus error. The sigbus error is occuring where I noted below. I now have data values to go along with the location. The SIGBUS generating bit is "entry_scanner_p->e.pid" which looks to be in an unaccessable area of memory. Looking back through the code, I find a couple of bizarities. For example file_scanner_p->num_share_mode_entries

is the compiletime option FAST_SHARE_MODES still in use?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! I'm responsible for the computers and the network at our studentunion and I have a Debian GNU/Linux server running SAMBA to share files. The performance seems ok when compared to FTP but our bookkeeping application has it's data as a database stored in a file on the server and the performance for that application is terrible.

coding volunteers needed for msrpc server-side API conversion
ok, people, i _really_ need help with this. i estimate that if i work on this full-time it's going to take about... two weeks. i have one volunteer for the samr functions. it's been two days, already, and i'm only half-way through samr. that means, nothing else gets done, and samba-tng current cvs is broken because the _samr_lookup_rids() function goes into an infinite loop on that
