windows clients can't see workgroup at all
I'm trying to troubleshoot a new samba setup on a tiny network, and I'm clearly missing something. I'm running Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu Linux. When I first set it up, it seemed to go so smoothly. I changed all the workstations to the same workgroup (RABNETWORK) and they could see each other and the server, but they couldn't open anything on the server. I don't really understand

generating error message on smbclient -L apollo
Hello, When I run the 'smbclient -L apollo' command at the UNIX prompt a I get an error. I have gone as far as I can in this DIAGNOSIS.txt file. Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing my problem ? I have made my comments to the DIAGNOSIS.txt file via '---- davidw {comment}' so you can see what I've done to date. Also, I thought I'd pass on the output

Win2K unable to see shares
I have been unable to get my Samba shares on RedHat 7.3, Samba 2.2.3a to be visible from my Windows 2000 SP1 server. From the DIAGNOSIS.txt tests (results below) I think that nmbd is not working properly, but it stops and starts fine, and a ps -A shows 1 X smbd and 2X(?)nmbd processes running, I have tried the suggestions there without luck and am not sure where to go next. I'd appreciate

Hello everyone, My client is running FreeBSD 5.0, Samba 2.28 and using Sage production 3.6. I'm having a problem in that each day the company must re-enter the Sage serial number to re-register the product. Having done this the package will work correctly for the remainder of the day. The Sage support team have informed me that this is caused by time settings on the file

Samba 1.9.18p7 with Win95/NT...
Hi... I've gone through the DIAGNOSIS.txt document, and just about everything else I can think of, and am lost... I've installed Samba on one of my Sparc's here at the office, and am trying to connect to it from a Win95 machine, and it fails. If I try to use smbclient from a different Unix host, it connects fine. If we look at a Win/NT machine, the Sparc server comes up on the

Windows can't browse Samba server
I have two Samba servers and three Windows clients (two 95 and one NT). One Samba server has been running for a while and is having no problems. I just installed a new Linux box and loaded up Samba (2.0.3). After configuring it to act as a PDC, WINS server, and master browser, I fired it up. Everything seems to be working fine, except no Windows clients can see the Samba server via Network

the files when you attempt to rename it. This is caused by Window's Media Player loading the file when you click on it. To work around this I had to go into Windows Explorer and change the folder options from "Enable Web Contents in Folders" to "Use Windows Classic Folders". This way, Windows Media player won't load the file when you click on it. Just trying to save

period of time (hours up to weeks sometimes), and then 'certain' pc's would no longer be able to connect to samba, but other pc's would still be working. And the pc's affected are not the same each time. this might be the case if what is REALLY going on is that the pc's that are STILL working never lost their connection to SAMBA/iX, so they already(still) have a working

\\Pettit Connect As: Password: On the server side, I didn't get far because the domain name come up NULL so it failed on that test. Below are two logs log98.txt and log2000.txt that show full debug info. I might just have a stupid configuration or installation mistakes. I am sure that my basic configuration must work since it is a very typical setup. Any help will be highly appreciated
