Share modes problems
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with share modes (at least I think it's share
modes) on my samba server. The problems only seem to have
manifested themselves since I updated to samba 2.0.0. This has
coincided with an upgrade to our system, so it is conceivable that
the problem may be with that, but I think it more likely that it is to
do with samba (since errors are reported in the log

Problem with Share visibility on Samba
Hi,
I'm running Windows NT 4.0 (SP3) as a client and using samba v1.9.17p4 on
Solaris 2.5 for a server and ran into some problems with the visibility
of shares. I'm not too sure if this is a feature or a bug.
After I connect to the server the first time, the shares being listed on
my client don't get refreshed properly. After connecting, I had removed a
share from the server and

I read your notice about your problem with Windows NT and servicepack 3.
Did you find any solution?
I have the same problem: I can?t see other computers on the network when
I?m running SAMBA. I would appreciate if you could help me.

Warning when compiling nmbd_incomingdgrams.c
I just downloaded samba-1.9.18p3.tar.gz and compiled it on a DEC 3000/300
running OSF/1 v3.0 (uname -mrsv gives: "OSF1 V3.0 347 alpha") using the
built-in cc compiler.
The compiler gives the following warning:

Can someone tell me where I can find 'supported' lex and yacc
utilities that work on NT?
Pardon me if this question is not relevant in this list..
Please send me the replies directly to my e-mail
'k.sundram@blr.sni.de' ; since I find that this list
is getting bigger and better..
Thanx in advance

Network time sync and reverse NetBios name lookup
I made a somewhat deep check for time synchronization and I
couldn't find what I was looking for. What I need to do is synchronize
the clock on a Linux box to the clock on an NT server. I can't use NTP
or any other protocol because the NT box doesn't understand it. Any
pointers would be great.
The second issue is that I need to do (if possible) a reverse
NetBios name lookup by

Junk e-mail .... help needed!!!
Hi!!
Of late, I'm getting a lot of un-solicited mails from this
list, and inspite of un-subscribing mails, messages, threats
, nothing really seems to work...
My question:
1. Is there any way I can 'avoid' or 'bounce' incoming messages
at the mail-server level??
2. I cannot change my address (alias) as such... since this
involves sending reminders to God knows how many

IBM 4039 Laserprinter. Weird problem.
I have menaged to setup Samba services to share an IBM 4039 printer and have
tested another printer (Epson LX-800) on the PC. It works fine.
The weird thing, the IBM4039 will not print anything. All the jpbs will be
spooled. For each print job to be printed. I will need to switch off the
printer and switch it on again.
Have anyone encountered such problems before? I know there is basically

problem with printer
Hi,
I've a strange problem with samba 1.9.15pl4 and an Epson LQ2070 printer (not
that I think that samba release or printer type are relevant ..). I'm using
samba with linux to offer print share to a win3.11 LAN. A little drawing:
Win PC <----> File Server <----> Axis print server <----> printer
(spool dir)
The printer is connected to an Axis printserver

How to get nmbd to work?
I have NEVER been able to get nmbd to work in anything even remotely
approximating a usable fashion.
All I want it to do is DNS lookups.
I can't even get it to do that reliably. It looks in some cases like it
isn't even sending a response back to the querying clients.
When I do a request that fails, I get this:
---
nmb packet from 192.55.114.4(3175) header: id=8172 opcode=Query(0)

Print Share Name Length
Hi all,
We (the Samba Team) need some feed back from our user community.
Anyone want to help out? All you need to do is post us a one liner.
Tell us if you want 8 character length limited print share names or larger.
If you really must have longer print share names - then how many characters?
Should we limit the length?

add one point to contourplot()
Hi All,
I want to add one point to contourplot(). I used contourplot() in my code like
contourplot(z ~ a + b |c, data)
I understand there is plot.axes argument for filled.contour(), but it did not work for my code. I also tried plot() and text() for contourplot(), but got this error: "plot.new has not been called yet"
Any suggestion for adding a point in contourplot()?
Thank you very

Printer Pool
Is there a way in samba to create a printer pool like you can do with NT?
I have two HP Network Printers (4000N) which I can setup and print to from
Win95, no problem. But I want to make the most "efficient" use of the
printers, as they are in a lab, sitting right next to each other...
Thanks...

change lattice panel background color
I can't find a way to change just the panel background color in lattice.
I would like NA regions in levelplot() to appear black. I've tried the
trellis.par.set() stuff, but it it makes the background of the whole
graphic black.
