LANManager, Samba and HP-UX 10.20
Greetings. I've been asked to configure Samba on an hP server to replace LAN Manager since LAN Manager goes away in 10.20. Ok, I've got Samba built and running. Any Win95 clients can see the server with Network Neigh, net view etc. (This is HP-UX 9.xx) We also have a _bunch_ of HP Windows Clients. These boot quite happily via tftp with both LANM and samba running. These HP clients

Samba, LM and HP revisited..
Well, I've got most of it working. It turns out that it was a bit of a dumb move on my part... The LM setup used different passwords from the /etc/passwd file on the HP.. reset the passwords and hey presto.. With that said and done, I know have the following problems.. 1) I get a "couldn't validate logon on a server, so you may not be able to access all network resources"

FW: Question about carraige-return/line feed
Hi, I have just installed Samba 1.9.16p11 on a SCO openserver 5 box. This works well, in fact its very fast. There is only one problem. When files are created on it from Windows 95 you get a ^M character at the end of each line. Is there a way of turning carraige-return linefeed back to just linefeed. (I'm assuming this is the problem). Thanks, Mark.

Samba configuration
I'm trying to config a Linux box to integrate into a windows network using pam_smb and samba. Ive set it up so that using pam_smb I can get the user to log onto the linux desktop with their NT id and password. The only problem is once the user is logged on they need to be able to access shared resources disk, printers etc... without the need to reauthenticate to the domain, i.e. use a cache

Different networks over NAT
Hi, I've been struggling for almost a week now, but I can't get the following setup to work. At home I have class A network: 10.0.0.0/16 with a masquerading gateway 10.0.0.1 running tinc. At work (http://www.eastsite.nl) we have a 192.168.0.0/24 network. The gateway is called 'ed' I've set up tinc on 'gateway' and everything is working fine from

-means, hybrid clustering or similar implementations on R
Hi, I would like to know if someone knows an extended implementation of k-means in R to find appropriate number of clusters for a given k-dimensional data. Also, I am working on clustering for forecasting, if someone is interested or has knowledge on implementational details please mail me, I would appreciate it. BudgeTone 102 flakey sound
I have experienced lots of apparently dropped packets (in other words, lots of short interruptions of what the other party tries to tell me) with a GS102 and chan_capi. The GS102 is connected through a lightly-loaded switch directly connected to the * server, so bandwidth/latency shouldn't pose a problem. Funny thing is that the switch indicates 10mbit on the GS102 port - is that correct?

SYSLINUX development is now in "git"
I have now migrated SYSLINUX development from CVS to "git". A clonable repository is available at: rsync://rsync.kernel.org/pub/scm/boot/syslinux/syslinux.git If you're doing any kind of development of syslinux, I recommend installing cogito and git and cloning this repository. It will both yours and my workflow a lot nicer. It will also let people see ongoing syslinux

Matching multiple destination IPs in the ingress queue.
I''ve been trying to match multiple public IPs in an ingress qdisc. The idea is to allow these specific IPs and aggregate value of 256 kbits incoming to the interface. Can anyone tell me how this can be effectively done if at all possible with tc? Thanks in advance -- Corey Rogers <jrog@sunbeach.net> _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list /

git problem
I'm trying to get the head source so I can try the patch Ram mentioned in his email but without success. I have not used git/cogito before. The output below is from a cygwin session but I get similar results on Ubuntu as well (a bit more of the html ending with 'as an object to pull'). So whatever is wrong is common to my cygwin and Ubuntu setup. Thanks, Andrew $ cg clone -s

Remote backups of Unix machines
My boss asked me to investigate a free (as in no cost) solution that would allow us to archive our AIX server onto the 12 gig tape drive sitting on our Linux server. I tried doing an SMB share with valid user set to root, but this apparently loses the permissions that the AIX box uses (everything is owned root/root), making it rather useless for backup and restore. Can SMB do what I need, or
