SSH suddenly started failing :(
All of a sudden I can no longer ssh into my server running CentOS 4.5
This is what happens:
[john at lt-131-jdl-f7 ~]$ ssh -Y -p 2222 192.168.0.1
john at 192.168.0.1's password:
Connection to 192.168.0.1 closed by remote host.
Connection to 192.168.0.1 closed.
And yes, the account does exist and the password is correct!
Looking at the logs, I see this:

Restricting samba clients to a single user
Hi,
I have set up a network of about 60 PC's running Windows 95 with a Samba
server running on Solaris. We have domain logons. Everything working great.
What I need to do now is to assign each PC to one user so that each user is
only allowed to logon in his/her PC. I have read all the docs and lists I
could find but only found a passing reference to doing this with preexec but
I couldn't

Samba and authentication
Hello dear list-members !
Scenario:
Security is set to server and points to our NT DC's in the domain
a) User A has an account in the Domain and request a share, he will be
authenticated against the NT DC'S, this is ok ....
b) User B has NO account in the Domain and requests a share, he will be
rejected by the DC's
One short question:
Is it possible for samba to fallback to a

Sum multiple columns individually
Can you sum a few columns at a time?
I tried
x =Calc.find(:all, :select => "sum(amt1) amt1, sum(amt2) amt2"
:conditions => ["where date > ?", date] )
The sql seems to function properly, but I wasn''t able to grab the
values. These just failed
x.amt1
x.send("amt1")
I tried changing up the query to use
sum(amt1) as amt1
sum(amt1)

Connecting to samba-1.9.17p4 as non-administrator
I have a Win95 machine that I am trying to connect to a Samba share. When I
log in as administrator, I can connect to any and all samba shares just
fine. When I log onto the PC as a normal user, it asks for a password and
rejects them all. The logs say "server xyz rejected password" for each of
these attempts. This server has SP3 and I *do* have the encryption stuff
compiled in. I

Print Share Name Length
Hi all,
We (the Samba Team) need some feed back from our user community.
Anyone want to help out? All you need to do is post us a one liner.
Tell us if you want 8 character length limited print share names or larger.
If you really must have longer print share names - then how many characters?
Should we limit the length?

Installation of Samba on SVR3 unix
Hi
I have attempted to install Samba on an ageing Motorola running SVR3.
Unfortunately it has a limitation of 14 characters for filenames,
which means that when I untar the package, many of the files are not
created.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem, or am I stuck?
Many thanks

AnonCVS
Hi All,
I would like to use anonymous cvs, but it appears not to be working
(again?). There was a discussion back in Jan-Feb about whether to
continue supporting it, but it seemed that Tony Rossini got it working
and the discussion left off there. Did someone decide to disable it, or
is it just not working properly?
Here's the details:

Problems logging in with MSCLIENT.
I'm running Samba 2.2.3 with winbind for authentication. Much to my
surprise, I found I had a need to connect an MS-DOS system to the network.
I'm using MSCLIENT to do so. I can successfully log into the domain and map
drives on Windows NT servers, but I'm having trouble mapping Samba shares.
Examining the log shows that the DOS machine is apparently trying to connect
with a username

form_for and Multiple Models Being Saved
Howdy Folks,
I want to use form_for to allow a user to submit a form that contains two
instances of the same model. They are entering calendar dates and I want
them to be able to submit 2 from the same form.
Ok, so, using form_for, what is the best way to do this? form_for seems to
be setup to handle a single instance in that it wants a name for the
variable, etc...
Has someone else done this?

SMC Webconsole 3.1 and ZFS Administration 1.0 - stacktraces in snv_b89
I''ve installed SXDE (snv_89) and found that the web console only listens on https://localhost:6789/ now, and the module for ZFS admin doesn''t work.
When I open the link, the left frame lists a stacktrace (below) and the right frame is plain empty. Any suggestions?
I tried substituting different SUNWzfsgr and SUNWzfsgu packages from older Solarises (x86/sparc, snv_77/84/89,

Why does oplocks = False not seem to stop file cacheing?
Greetings All,
I have tried everything I can think of and can not seem to
stop the PC from cacheing a local copy of a file retrieved
over a samba share. I have tried oplocks = false and also
setting veto oplocks = /*.txt/
Whatever I try the PC still shows me the old version of a file
after I modify it on the unix side. If anyone can see anything
wrong with my smb.conf file please let me know.

postgres gem -- LoadError
I''m at a loss to explain why the postgres gem will not work on my new
server. I''ve gotten it working on several other servers in the past.
The major difference between then and now is that I''m using a newer
version of PostgreSQL. 8.x as opposed to 7.x.
