Traffice Control with Wonder Shaper
Greetings,
I am trying to set up Wonder Shaper to work along with Shorewall 2.0.8. I
have read through this document here:
http://shorewall.net/traffic_shaping.htm and set the necessary options in
shorewall.conf, and I coped the contents of the htb file to tcstart and
changed things in accordance with the readme.
Now from what im seeing, that''s all there is to it and it should work,

New Webmin 1.060 comes with Shorewall module
I just updated my webmin on my server and noticed that the module for
Shorewall looked different. It looks like someone really cleaned it up
and had it added to the Standard Webmin Module list. Woohoo.

Samba on Red Hat 7.2
Hi all,
I know this isnt really the right place to ask but does anyone know why when I install Red Hat 7.2 and pick Samba to be installed it doesnt seem to be (either that or its not set to auto start and I dont know how to load it).
I've even upgraded from 6.1 (Samba confirmed working) and the upgrade also turns Samba or disables/uninstalls it.
Anyone got any ideas on this?
Thanks

port forward from local net to local machine
Hi!
I have a Linux shorewall firewall that is the default gw of the network.
I want to redirect all localy originating traffic to port 80 into another
machine on port 8002 into the local network.
This machine is a WIN2000 machine running a commercial software (proxy,
content filtering) that only runs into Windows... :-(
I tried something like this but this doesn''t seem to work:

Changing passwords under Win2K/WinXP (Samba 2.2.6)
G'day all...
Has anyone had any success in achieving the above, without requiring the
user to run smbpasswd on the samba server?
On the client machine (2000 or XP) when I press ctrl-alt-del and attempt
to change the password I get the error "The User name or old password is
incorrect..."
I need to keep things as simple as possible for my users, they're not

Samba won't act as PDC
I have been tasked to be one of the main targets, er, I mean, guys to
facilitate our changeover from a rather aged Novell server to Samba.
My boss set up Samba 2.0.7 (RPM shows "samba-common-2.0.7-4" with an RPM
-q). I am trying to convert it to PDC functionality, and am having
difficulty. In the log I see this:

[ns]mbd, sync'ing of disks, and hdparm
Hi,
I run a little router/firewall that also acts as a print server for
the linux and win98 clients on the LAN. I have the harddisk configured
so that if there is little activity, it spins down (hdparm -S 12
/dev/hda).
I added smbd/nmbd today and with the two services running, the hard
disk drive spins down but wakes up about every 12 minutes. Without the
services, only a major event causes them

Samba as a NT PDC
Hello,
I have had Samba running for a long time now as a domain controller to win98
computers with no issues.
I have started to modify to allow for the new XP machines we are having.
I added CARTER$ (machine name) to the unix account.
I added it with smbpasswd.
I go to add itself to the domain (smbpasswd -j CHERRY_HILL) and I get this
error:
No password server list given in smb.conf - unable

Creating cluster replica on 2 nodes 2 bricks each.
Hello
We are trying to setup Gluster for our project/scratch storage HPC machine using a replicated mode with 2 nodes, 2 bricks each (14tb each).
Our goal is to be able to have a replicated system between node 1 and 2 (A bricks) and add an additional 2 bricks (B bricks) from the 2 nodes. so we can have a total of 28tb replicated mode.
Node 1 [ (Brick A) (Brick B) ]
Node 2 [ (Brick A) (Brick

Hi Nithya
This is what i have so far, I have peer both cluster nodes together as replica, from node 1A and 1B , now when i tried to add it , i get the error that it is already part of a volume. when i run the cluster volume info , i see that has switch to distributed-replica.
Thanks
