Which rsync version?
Hi all. I once tried to rsync around 100 GB (10 million files), but version 2.6.6 needed too much RAM and was too slow. Is one of the snapshots stable enough to try this again? [PATCH] Unsnarl missing_below/dry_run logic.
The generator can skip a directory's contents altogether due to --ignore-non-existing, a daemon exclude, or a mkdir failure. On a --dry-run, the generator can also note the missingness of a directory while still scanning its contents. These two scenarios were conflated using a single set of missing_below/missing_dir variables in combination with transient increments in dry_run; this caused

hang with rsync 3.0.0pre7 doing local copy
I've noticed the 3.0.0pre versions sometimes hanging while doing a local copy (through dirvish). This time a had a binary with debugging symbols, so I could do gdb backtraces. This is the result: # ps -fe | grep rsync root 3712 3710 0 02:04 ? 00:00:03 rsync -vrltH --delete -pgo --stats -D --numeric-ids -x --exclude-from=/backup/0/oudeserver/laatste/exclude

What tags are allowed in ogg files?
Hi, I'm writing a tag-editor for ogg files. What tags, besides ogg-tags, are allowed in ogg files (if any). I'm thinking of id3v1, id3v2, ape tags and so on. I have a (probably small) problem with writing a new "comment header". I have tried opening a file with a valid header, and then simply moved some of the comment tags position, so that the total size and the count still

Hi, Attached are links to two patches I submitted via the RoR Trac system a week or so ago: http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8305 http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8308 I refrained from creating a new Trac ticket for ARes, which will be affected if both of these patches are accepted by Core. There are a couple of workarounds for this issue, but it would be nice for AR, AS and ARes to output

changing passwords from Windows XP Pro workstations
Back to square 1! I stripped out my unsuccessful attempts to get Samba working with LDAP on my Debian Sarge server and am back with a tdbsam backend. I actually tried to purge as much of the old Samba & LDAP as I could then reinstalled fresh. This included removing the Windows groups and users and even the old tdbsam data. Unfortunately, I'm back where I started - users can't
