OSX and HFS+ filesystem compression
Hi All,
I have been reading about the HFS+ filesystem compression on Snow Leopard and how copying or cloning over system files with rsync and other tools results in them being expanded on destination. I was wondering if there was any thoughts on updating rsync to accommodate this? It is kind of a shame to the lose the benefits of the new compression. Thanks, Rob

OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) HFS+ File Compression
Are there any patches (or planned updates) to rsync v3.0.6 to handle
the HFS+ File Compression that Apple introduced with Snow Leopard?

stupid basic concept problem
Hy there
I just saw some rails videos.
*NICE!!!*
So I got this basic principle question: Now I created my jawdropping
application.
But it''s just running localy. Can I kind of export my project to
php&sql. so I can import the database and upload the php to my server to
running it "outside"?
Or do I have a provider that runs ruby?
I dont get this very basic problem. All I

OSX 10.6.4 error with -R option
Hi All,
I have had reports of problems with the -R option on OSX 10.6.4.
Just tested it myself and found this odd result:
When I run this
"dtruss -f path/to/rsync -aHAXNR --fileflags --force-change --protect-decmpfs --stats -v /Users/astrid/Documents/main.m /Users/astrid/Desktop/rrr
it produces the expected results with the relative folder paths in place

kvm_open: kvm_nlist: No such file or directory
A few weeks ago I did a source upgrade from 6.2 to 7-STABLE. I didn't
"make delete-old" so a bunch of old libraries and such were left lying
around causing problems when I rebuilt all my ports. I'd read about some
recent improvements to DDB and SCHED_ULE in 7-STABLE, and it's a miserable
snowy weekend in Seattle right now, so I decided I'd take this opportunity

Squid and HTTPS interception on CentOS 7 ?
Hi,
I've been running Squid successfully on CentOS 7 (and before that on 6
and 5), and it's always been running nicely. I've been using it mostly
as a transparent proxy filter in school networks.
So far, I've only been able to filter HTTP.
Do any of you do transparent HTTPS filtering ? Any suggestions, advice,
caveats, do's and don'ts ?
Cheers from the snowy South of

pre 1 OSX errors
Hi Wayne,
Trying out 3.1 pre 1 on OSX 10.8.4
I like the new extended stats and the ir-chunk file numbers in log. Also getting a lot of errors and most copies not completing to local disk. rsync just stalls.
Standard osx build:
patch -p1 <patches/fileflags.diff
patch -p1 <patches/crtimes.diff
patch -p1 <patches/hfs-compression.diff
./configure
make
rsync --fileflags --force-change

copying previously installed libraries to R 2.3.0
hi all,
is there a new mechanism in R 2.3.0 for copying libraries from, say, R 2.2.1 to R 2.3.0? i ask because gabor grothendieck comments in his copydir.bat (from gabor's batchfiles at: http://cran.r-project.org/contrib/extra/batchfiles/batchfiles_0.2-5.zip ):

More words for Allison
Here's the latest batch of words to get shipped out to Allison Smith.
Please submit reasonably small changes to me by tomorrow 10:00 AM
Eastern time, and I'll add them.
As usual, donations to what will be a ~$110 USD expense would be
appreciated, as I am paying for this round out of my pocket. Please

workaround for HFS+'s case-insensitivity?
I am using Mike Rubel's snapshot-style rsync to do backups from my web
server (Linux) to my desktop (MacOS X). Mostly, this works great,
except where case sensitivity (or rather, HFS+'s semi-lack thereof)
causes problems.
Specifically, it seems impossible to successfully back up my Linux box's
/usr/share/terminfo, as it contains directories that differ ONLY in
case (e.g.,

Feature Request: OS X / hfs+ / resources fork
rsync is a very useful tool for me to backup from Max OS X
to a linux server. However, would developers please add one
feature:
When rsync runs on an OS X machine and the source files are
in hfs+ (or hfs) filesystem, copy the resources fork to a
file with filename starts with a dot and append the original
filename. That's the current behaviour of samba client on
OS X interacting with

some clarity Re: HFS+ resource forks: WIP patch included
I'd note that the mkisofs man page listed about a dozen different
formats used in various contexts to store Mac resource forks and
finder metadata in various contexts. I'd imagine the advent of MacOSX
(with UFS support) has narrowed the field of what options are common
somewhat, but it's an area where a lot of ad-hoc solutions made it
out to the real world. On the other hand, the
