Link-dest breaks on uid/gid mismatches
I want to use rsync to backup a couple of Windows systems to a central point. To this end I installed the "DeltaCopy" implementation of an rsync server on the Windows boxes. On the central server I have rsync 3.0.7 running on a Debian GNU/Linux distribution. (I also have a similar configuration but with a QNAP - a NAS with bells on - as the central backup point. Since both exhibit

Issue when calling deparse(substitute(x)) from C with "anonymous" R vectors ?
Dear list, When calling R from C, what appears like a spurious error can be triggered during the execution of chisq.test(x, y). This is happening when the following conditions are met: - x and y are "anonymous" C-level R vectors (they do not have a symbol), but they are protected from garbage collection - x and y are "not too small" (it was experienced as soon as they are

Findings on pre-NV50 miptree layout
I wrote a tool for automatically finding out the texture layout for Gallium drivers. You can find it attached to http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=ff13bc9a1001081140y18450c3ejdfac25c9260fd367%40mail.gmail.com&forum_name=mesa3d-dev . Here are the findings from running it. The result is that our miptree layout code is partially broken, and overly complex. In particular:

Re: VMware tools in standard CentOS [ was Re: www.centos.org - Contact the CentOS Development Team Form ]
[ Sorry for the very belated response ] Thanks, Tru. What is the process for Sean's work to make it into the standard CentOS5 and 5.1 repositories? How will the tools package get updated as you patch the kernel? Perhaps we should cc Sean on the email? His home page on the Duke server has no contact information. Thanks, Andrew [ Resent to the centos-virt email list, as recommended by

preserving Mac OS X metadata in rsync backups and restores
Hello all, I'm new to the list, but have done quite a bit of researching before regarding the support of Mac OS X specific features (resource forks, extended attributes, ACLs, file creation & modification date). By reading the archives, I get the impression that the current version of rsync 3.0.0pre8 is quite far in this respect. At least it sounds so, and I thank the developers

Trying to preserve UID and GID when backing up with rsync
Hi all I am trying to use rsync as part of a backup solution for a machine with multiple users. The intention is to run rsyncd on a different server with typically different user IDs. I also intend to run rsync from the client as root and essentially back up the following: /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/group /home In the event of a disaster we would reprovision the machine then restore the user

[PATCH] fix sftp to preserve permissions and uid/gid
Sftp fails to correctly preserve permissions when fetching a file. It adds write permission for the owner (presumably so it can write the file). Sftp also fails to preserve the uid/gid. Added code so that if is running as root, uid and gid are preserved. patch is based on Openssh 3.4p1. *** sftp-client.c@@\main\1 Tue Oct 1 17:26:20 2002 --- sftp-client.c Tue Nov 5 10:22:52 2002

rsync filter rules ignored by rsnapshot
Hello guys, sorry for cross-posting, but imho it could be an error in my rsnapshot setup as well as in my rsync setup. If there is a solution on one of these mailing-lists i will post it to the other one as well. ok? here is my question: when running rsnapshot, my exclude filter is being ignored, but i don't see why. grep -v "#" /etc/rsnapshot-debx40.conf | grep . gives

Samba 4 two DCs no matching UID/GID
I found this. But I didn't find it related to DC idmapping replication. I have two pieces of hardware. My goal is realize an active directory for the windows clients and a file server. The AD should have redundancy (this is why I provisioned two DCs). The file should integrate snapshots like a NetApp system (snapshots are done by rsnapshot). The snapshot functionality works so far by mounting
