Differenc in exclude v 2.6.9 and v 3.0.4
I'm finding a fairly major difference in the behavior of include/exclude between 2 version of rsync: opensolaris running rsync version 2.6.9 Cygwin running rsync version 3.0.4 Run from Opensolaris using version 2.6.9 and pulling from a windows XP box with this cmdline: (Note: cmds are wrapped for mail) rsync -nvviirp --inplace --include="Temp/**/" \

simple data transformation question
Hi all, I have a (hopefully) simple newbie-level question.   # I have data like this: dtf <- data.frame(read.table(textConnection("var  value   company  9887.1   company  91117.0   blaah  91.1   etc  11   etc  97111"), header=TRUE))   # I would like to have output like this (the index number may vary): var  value.1 value.2 company 9887.1 91117.0 blah  91.1 NA etc 11 97111   # I

data.frame within a function (PR#9294) (cont'd)
This continues the message "data.frame within a function (PR#9294)" that was posted on 2006/10/12. Duncan Murdoch kindly replied. I'm using the current version R 2.4.0, but the same issue exists. Just copy and paste the following code under R, and compare the output of f1() and f2() and the output of f3() and f4(). Does anybody have any idea? Thanks.

creating a data frame from a list
Dear all, I have a list with three (named) numeric vectors: > lst = list(a=c(A=1,B=8) , b=c(A=2,B=3,C=0), c=c(B=2,D=0) ) > lst $a A B 1 8 $b A B C 2 3 0 $c B D 2 0 Now, I'd love to use this list to create the following data frame: > dtf = data.frame(a=c(A=1,B=8,C=NA,D=NA), + b=c(A=2,B=3,C=0,D=NA), + c=c(A=NA,B=2,C=NA,D=0) ) > dtf a b

deleting partition does not effect superblock?
Hi, I am using kernel 2.6.15.4. On my system, I first created a partition with EXT3 and put some data on it. Later, I deleted the partition, and re-created another partition with the same starting block number and a higher ending block number. I intended to format it with another filesystem, but surprisingly (or maybe just to me), the superblock of the partition had not changed. I could still

creating a data frame from a list
Dear all, A few months ago, I asked for your help on the following problem: I have a list with three (named) numeric vectors: > lst = list(a=c(A=1,B=8) , b=c(A=2,B=3,C=0), c=c(B=2,D=0) ) > lst $a A B 1 8 $b A B C 2 3 0 $c B D 2 0 Now, I'd love to use this list to create the following data frame: > dtf = data.frame(a=c(A=1,B=8,C=NA,D=NA), +

Rsync backups over the internet
All I am use rsync to backup a large filesystem over the internet. I do an incremental backup of the 2 file systems once a day to keep an offsite backup. However, this backup takes about 60 minutes. Are there some tweaks I can do to speed up the backup? Here is the command I run via cron every day: rsync --exclude-from=/home/backups/rsync/attachments-exclude.lst --delete -ave ssh

Problem in using rsync
Hi I use rsync to perform backup on disk on a SunFire 880 with Solaris 8. For performance issues, we launch simultaneously 5 rsyncs on 5 different fliesystems and about 150-200 "cp -p" commands on as many database files. We have been using the same scripts for about 2 months, without problems. The backup is performed on the same server (from filesystem to filesystem on the same

help in vectorization
Hi, I have two data frames. One is like > dtf = data.frame(y=c(rep(2002,4), rep(2003,5)), + m=c(9:12, 1:5), + def=c(.74,.75,.76,.78,.80,.82,.85,.85,.87)) and the other dtf2 = data.frame(y=rep( c(2002,2003),20), m=c(trunc(runif(20,1,5)),trunc(runif(20,9,12))), inc=rnorm(40,mean=300,sd=150) ) What I want is to divide

extracting nested variances from lme4 model
I have a model: mod1<-lmer( x ~ (1|rtr)+ trth/(1|cs) , data=dtf) # Here, cs and rtr are crossed random effects. cs 1-5 are of type TRUE, cs 6-10 are of type FALSE, so cs is nested in trth, which is fixed. So for cs I should get a fit for 1-5 and 6-10. This appears to be the case from the random effects: > mean( ranef(mod1)$cs[[1]][1:5] ) [1] -2.498002e-16 > var(

OT: data from Harvey's book
Goodmorning, and sorry for the off-topic question. Does anybody know if the data sets used in Harvey's book "Forecasting, structural time series models and the Kalman filter" are available online? Thanks in advance, Giovanni -- __________________________________________________ [ ] [ Giovanni Petris GPetris at

rsync not working with ZoneAlarm Pro
Hi. When I try to use rsync 2.5.7 from a Windows 2000 machine with CygWin and ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5.538, I get this error: Read from remote host myweb.com: Connection reset by peer rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at /home/lapo/packaging/tmp/rsync-2.5.7/io.c(177) And this is the command that I am executing: rsync -vaz

How to getting clean list of transferred files
Hello, i am using currently rsync-2.6.0 with option --log-format=%f to produce a list of the transferred files. This list is then used to generate hard-links for backup-purposes. Now rsync sometimes generates messages like "file has vanished: ..." on STDOUT (_not_ STDERR) which breaks this processing. When using option -q there is no output at all. Is there any way to get a

Rsync and ssh with passwordless authentifikation
Is it possible to konfigure a passwordless authentifikation in kombination with ssh. for example: to a specific folder on a server named server1 has only user1 access. the user1 only exists on server1. server2 wants to replicate a foler from server1 to himself. the rsync process uses the rsync_user, which exists on both machines. the rsync process asks every time the job runs for the password

protocol version mismatch
Hi, I am pretty new to rsync so this question might have a very trivial answer. Sorry for that then. (using google didn't work though) I want to synchronise the files from my laptop to my machine at work and back from time to time. Both machines have linux (the laptop has fedora core 2 with a 2.6.6 kernel and the remote machine redhat 9 with a 2.6.3 kernel) On the laptop I use rsync

rsync a raw device
Hi all - is there some magic flag i'm missing that will allow me to rsync a raw device? Not the dev entry, but the device itself? I have a filesystem (backuppc data store) that does not respond well to directory traversal due to an extremely high number of hard links (which generate lots of disk seeks), and probably would not work well with rsync anyway due to a large number of actual

difficulies with boxplot
Dear list, sorry for bothering you with a probably simple question... I searched the archive but couldn't find the right answer. I have computed upper and lower bounds of a region and would like to plot them in a boxplot. My problem is now to get the two boxplots in the same graphic so that the boxplot of the upper bounds is directly on top of the boxplot of the lower bounds. The reason I

[LLVMdev] Python bindings for LLVM API
Hi, I would like to share my experimental LLVM API Python bindings with the LLVM enthusiasts. I have created Boost.Python wrappers largely for the VMCore interface and other selected interfaces (e.g. ExecutionEngine). The bindings provide direct runtime access to the LLVM bytecode and JIT execution features from Python. The bindings are complete enough so that one can e.g. run the Fibonacci
