Mongrel service will not start on win32 w/ --prefix option
All, I am in need of some help. I''ve run into a problem that I am not able to fix or even troubleshoot. I am trying to run Mongrel as a service on Win32. Basically, my problem is that running Mongrel as a service works fine. Fine until I change the configuration (using service::remove and service::install) to use --prefix. I must have this as I am running multiple webapps and app

How to retrieve results of most recent command?
In R, is there an automatic variable that stores the results of the most recent command or commands? (I am thinking of a behavior like Mathematica's % result-history substitution syntax.) (I am using R 2.3.1 on Linux and R 2.3.1 on Windows XP.) This is a pretty basic question, so I tried to do an extensive version of the recommended pre-posting homework. >

multinom(nnet) analogy for biglm package?
I would like to perform a multinomial logistic regression on a large data set, but do not know how. I've only thought of a few possibilities and write to seek advice and guidance on them or deepening or expanding my search. On smaller data sets, I have successfully loaded the data and issued commands such as: length(levels(factor(data$response))) [1] 6 # implies polychotomy library(nnet)

neverending i2/lighttpd problems
So after recompiling ruby a few times to get ssl and readline working, fighting with lighty for awhile, and learning a bit more about linux in the process, I think I''m really close to getting i2 up and running. However, when I try to access my wiki, I get either a blank page or an error 500 and the stack trace below gets sent to the log. If I can''t get this working soon

Actually I can only forward my sipgate number to only one user. So I am

rsync, --sparse and VM disk images
Hi Bas, I'm not sure if this is of interest, but I also had issues with VM disk-image sparse-files (in my case KVM, rather than VMWare), which I've now resolved. http://www.finalcog.com/rsync-vm-sparse-inplace-kvm-vmware All the best, Chris Dew. correlation structure
I have been using a nlme model and wish to specify the correlation structure. My data is grouped (bas), but I have no time component or adequate spatial description beyond the grouping variable. So I chose the simplest structure and updated my original nlme model by: update(model, corr=corCompSymm(~1|bas)) This is not significant. One of my variables measures area upstream of the sample. Area

rsync checksums change randomly
Hello, I have a weird issue with rsync randomly marking some files as having a different checksum (see sample outputs below - run one after another). You would think it is some kind of corruption / io problem with the files but it doesn't seem so - I have copied files around, changes source to different machines, counted md5s manually 100s of times - always the same. All files except
