Rsyncing Problem with - character!
Dear Rsync Users, Please can I have a bit of rsync advice? I am trying to rsync a file called. 'Draft text - with Holley comments.doc' from machine a to machine b. Unfortunately this isn't working because I think rsync recognises the - character and thinks it's an option. I have tried escaping this out as well as putting it all in " " but neither seems to work

mac os 10.5.5 and symbolic link to www
We have a new server running Red Hat 5.2EL. Windows machines can samba to the linux server with no problems, including symbolic links to the www directory. Our Mac OS 10.5.5 machines have a problem with symbolic links to the www directory. On the Mac computers, the symbolic links show up as an alias that cannot be followed. These same MAC computers can samba to the www directory via a symbolic

Join 2012 Server R2 as member to NT domain
Wow, this is great. However, we need to use DNS. If we enable it AFTER the computer has joined the domain, would it keep working, or DNS is no avail in W8.1? Rsync order of maginitude slower with twice as large directory
I am in the habit of syncing my /usr/local tree over several computers (all Mac OS X). Recently my /usr/local tree has doubled in size, from 300,000 files to 600,000 files because I have added a large subversion checkout (TeX Live). As a result, rsync has become a time hog. Instead of a minute or two or so to calculate what needs to be sent over, suddenly this process takes 18-20 minutes,

SSH login between servers still asking for password, why?
I have two servers identified as `server-1 - 192.168.3.128` and `server-2 - 192.168.3.130`. I am setting up `capifony` for automatic deployment from server-1 to server-2 and this is what I have done so far: 1. In both servers I have created a user `deploy` without password since that's the user I will use for deployment. 2. In server-1 I setup a SSH keys by running the command:

CentOS 6.5 fresh install, public ssh keys cannot authenticate
Dear List, I cannot get public ssh keys to work in a fresh install of centos6.5 This might be a centos bug. I've googled for a solution. Mostly I found threads suggesting I debug sshd or run ssh -v for clues. Also I've seen threads suggesting I look at file and directory permissions. I dont think I should need to debug sshd after a fresh install. Also I think a fresh install should

user accounts
I am confused on the various account creation methods in samba. I am running Fedora Core 8 and Samba 3.0.26a-6. 1.) I can create a user with pdbedit -a I can create a user with smbpasswd -a I can list the users with the pdbedit -L command Where is the file with the users that the above commands create and pdbedit -L lists? 2.) In SWAT under "server password management" I created a use

Risk of StrictMode (but read only)
Is there a risk associated with having authorized_keys files set to readable but "StrictMode no"? I am thinking particularly in the case of having public keys all centralized in a directory in /etc or something. Is it really a potential hack vector if someone can read a public key, or is the only real danger if they were writable? --- Don Hoover dxh at yahoo.com

Queue cmd option 'i'
Using Asterisk 1.4, on the console 'show application queue' mentions an option 'i' that should "ignore call forward requests from queue members and do nothing when they are requested." Does this work? My assumption is that the member whose next according to the queue strategy should get the call even if they have forwarding enabled on their SIP device. The forwarding

pigeonhole - how to whitelist
Hello, When new users are added we start them with a spam rule that routes spam to their junk folder. I don't see a way to assign priority ... so how does a user whitelist a spam-flagged email? Are the rules applied in some order? Alphabetically perhaps? If so I can name the spam rule z-spam. Thanks in advance.

connect windwos 7 to linux homes
With windows XP this worked perfect. I would map a network drive to \\servername\homes<file:///\\servername\homes>, provide my linux samba user account and it would stay functional between reboots. With windows 7 I can map the network drive as in XP but after a reboot the mapped drive to the linux samba homes share breaks with the message Microsoft windows network: multiple connections to a

Join 2012 Server R2 as member to NT domain
I don't have anything but Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 to test with. 2003 joins the domain without issue. 2008 and 2012 will not. The registry has been updated on both: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters] "DNSNameResolutionRequired"=dword:00000000

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed. However I have a permission problem. I added the parameter to 90-sieve.conf and created the directory but now I get the following permissions errors in maillog even though I have the file and directory wide open with 777 permissions: Error: yY/0JHtauVQfPgAAU+Cu/Q: sieve: failed to open sieve dir: stat(/var/lib/dovecot/sieve/after.d/) failed: Permission

SELinux and search permissions
I am running xapian and omega on a Centos 6.4 SELinux enabled box. When I do a search I get the following message: Exception: Couldn't read format template `query' (Permission denied) If I disable SELinux the search executes correctly. I have enabled the httpd_enable_cgi boolean but that still does not allow the permissions needed. What else do I need to configure in SELinux for xapian

no longer goes to standby when lid is closed
since I got the big bolus of updates from the CR repo a few days ago my netbook (AcerAspire One D255E) will no longer go to standby when the lid is closed. This was a Gnome desktopp installation with theh MATE desktop fromm EPEL. I've verified that the correct setting still exists in power manager but it persists in continuing to run when the lid closes. it WILL go to standby if explicitly
