Metafor vs Meta vs Spreadsheet: wrong numbers
Hello, I experimented the Metafor and Meta packages in the scope of replacing Excel for meta-analysis. I performed the first working example provided in Michael Borenstein's book "Introduction to Meta-Analysis" with Excel, Metafor and Meta. The numbers given by my spreadsheet, which I validated from Borenstein's book, conrespond quite closely to those given by Meta, but

(Slight) calculation discrepancy in escalc (metafor package)
Hello, I recently started using the metafor package (version 1.6-0) in R (2.15.1, 64-bit Windows 7) and noticed that I was getting slightly different values when I manually calculated the standardized mean difference versus what escalc was giving me. Here''s a very simple example: escalc(measure="SMD", m1i=5,m2i=10,n1i=5,n2i=5,sd1i=1,sd2i=2,vtype="LS") The result

Bug#477931: rsync: Segfaults syncing the linux kernel archive.
Hi Wayne, I just got this bug report about rsync 3.0.2 reproducibly crashing, together with a backtrace and a patch; very helpful :-) (Please preserve 477931-forwarded@bugs.debian.org in the CC so that you response is archived in the Debian BTS, thanks.) metafor - code for analysing geometric means
?Dear All I have some data expressed in geometric means and 95% confidence intervals. Can I code them in metafor as: rma(m1i=geometric mean 1, m2i=geometric mean 2, sd1i=geometric mean 1 CI /3.92, sd2i=geometric mean 2 CI/3.92.......etc, measure="MD") All of the studies use geometric means. Changes on master applied only on second run on nodes
Hi! If I change manifest on master and then immediately run "puppet agent --no-daemonize --report --pluginsync --onetime" then it still uses old version of manifest. When I run it second time it sees changes and applies them. Why is it like that? Is it intended to be so? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To

jailutils security issue, and possible issue with 'jail'
Since some of you use the jailutils package, I just wanted to post some additional info on the recent 'security fix' and also highlight a possible issue with the 'jail' command. http://memberwebs.com/nielsen/freebsd/jails/jailutils/security.html It's not a very big issue (unless I'm missing something), simply one of leaking the host environment into the jail. large data set, error: cannot allocate vector
Why am I getting the error "Error: cannot allocate vector of size 512000 Kb" on a machine with 6 GB of RAM? I'm playing with some large data sets within R and doing some simple statistics. The data sets have 10^6 and 10^7 rows of numbers. R reads in and performs summary() on the 10^6 set just fine. However, on the 10^7 set, R halts with the error. My hunch is that

Slave as master

The machine is question is a master node a parallel cluster which I want it to act as a master for the computing nodes but set itself as a slave with a master exclusively controlling the UPS elsewhere. profile migration - resend
Hi, I am almost ready to switch over from 2.2.7 to 3 but found that a user profile created in 2.2 doesn't work in 3- ie; during login to a Samba 3 server, an error occurs and profile modifications are not permitted or recognized. This may seem trivial but I have 50 users, each with complex desktop setups which help them with there daily tasks of CG post production (so some of you know

kern.chroot_allow_open_directories
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The chroot(2) man page describes a sysctl called 'kern.chroot_allow_open_directories' which controls whether a process can chroot() and is already subject to the chroot() syscall. It seems that this sysctl can be trivially changed from within a chroot'd process (ie: if that process has superuser privileges). Is this sysctl meant to
