OSX universal rsync
Hi All, Well, we compiled pre9 on an intel Mac running Tiger and now it does work on the machine. I need to see if that will now work on a PPC mac though. Hopefully it will but I am wondering if there is a way to compile and make a universal binary rsync for the Mac that will run on both, from my PPC Mac. Itried that yesterday with patch -p1 <patches/flags.diff patch -p1

Bug with crtimes and hard links?
I've been getting spurious unnecessary copying of files on OSX when using the crtimes patch and the --crtimes -H options (version 3.0.4). I can reliably demonstrate it (on OSX 10.5) by doing this several times (as root): rsync -v -N -axHAX --delete-during --fileflags --force-change /usr/ bin/ /tmp/foo/ I think I've tracked it down to the hard-link processing code in

crtimes discrepancy on PPC
On a PPC machine running Mac OS X, I noticed that creation time is not preserved for files that are transferred (i.e. versus files that are not transferred, or files that have only attribute changes). I discovered two things that work together to cause this: 1) cmp_time (util.c) doesn't check for negative values provided in file1 or file2. If file2 is positive, and file1 is

pre 1 OSX errors
Hi Wayne, Trying out 3.1 pre 1 on OSX 10.8.4 I like the new extended stats and the ir-chunk file numbers in log. Also getting a lot of errors and most copies not completing to local disk. rsync just stalls. Standard osx build: patch -p1 <patches/fileflags.diff patch -p1 <patches/crtimes.diff patch -p1 <patches/hfs-compression.diff ./configure make rsync --fileflags --force-change

bad performance on 2.4.23
hi, - big and ugly mail. If you don't like them, delete it now :-) - I have collected and classified some information of: http://home.earthlink.net/~rwhron/kernel/bigbox.html And I observed that ext3 performance is worse than previous kernels(2.4.19...). -ac and -aa are here only as reference. Complete information is in the upper URL. dbench: Performance is worse. dbench (Numbers are in

Mac OS X : "get_xattr_names: llistxattr("some/path/here", 1024) failed" error
Hi, I'm trying to make a small script to get rid of Apple's TimeMachine. The aim is to backup the files of my company. I setup a MacMini with a lot of storage attached to it. The MacMini connects every once in a while to our data server (XServe) through SSH and pulls the files that need to be saved (I'm using the --link-dest option to limit the amount of files transferred, and to keep

wrong transfer of app packages using --backup
Dear All, I have been seeing some strange behavior using rsync 3.1.1 on OSX with the 3 standard patches applied when using the --backup and --backup-Dir options. This works as expected on 3.0.9, moving any files on dest that are not on source to the backup folder. If no changes then the backup folder is not even created. -aHAXN --fileflags --force-change --protect-decmpfs ?delete --backup

another index question
I am hoping for some advice regarding another index problem. The code below is intended to assign a value of 'V' if values on certain variables are >= 1, assign a value of 'N' if values on certain variables are >= 1 on other variables and assign a 'O' if values on any variable which have a value <= 0. The outcome of this code is to assign a single

Chaining with chain.c32 from syslinux 6.01 error
I just tested 6.02-pre10 version. ? On physsical machine it is booting ok now,?but chain.c32 result is the same errors :? ERR: Primary partition (in MBR) with invalid offset and/or length. ? ERR: Cant't find myself on the drive I booted from Adding 'relax' option to chain.c32 invocation resolves the problem. ? In qemu the boot and chaining works ok (without 'relax' option).

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 6276] crtimes.patch does not preserve creation dates on Mac x86_64 only
Wayne, I tried changing "unsigned long" to "uint32" as you suggested, but that doesn't work. The compiler adds padding to the struct to make the fields 64-bit aligned and it has the same problem. ?To convince the compiler that the timespec really should come immediately after the length, the struct can be packed with the pragma pack directive. ?I tested the following, and

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre10
Okay, the serial port feature in 3.11-pre9 was of course completely broken (I seem to have bad luck with -pre9's :)... a 3.11-pre10 is now available, and it does seem to have a more reliable handling of arrow keys ... *but not perfect*. There simply is no way to reliably detect both [Esc] and arrow keys on existing serial consoles. -hpa

comments about 5.00pre10
Hi Matt, First comments about 5.00-pre10. 1_ When using "ctrl+v" in the boot prompt, there is no space character between the version and the boot mode. Additionally, the main version number is shown twice. For example, "SYSLINUX 5.00 5.00-PRE10CHS" should be: "SYSLINUX 5.00-PRE10 CHS" 2_ Boot to menu.c32, press [ESC] to go to the boot prompt.
