CentOS 5 on a Thinkpad T60 laptop
Hello, I'm considering buying a second-hand Thinkpad T60 (with 2 GB RAM), as a secondary laptop in order to run CentOS 5 on the field. My main focus is therefore to have something robust, reliable and above all well compatible with CentOS. Hibernate / suspend feature are important to me, because that's the main issue I have with CentOS on other laptops. I have found the following

Hardware compatibility - Dell Inspiron 6400 or thinkpad t60?

I want to buy a dell inspiron 6400 or an IBM thinkpad T60 which are said to have such a mobile processor with hardware virtualization - does anybody have experiences with these? Looking in the Hardware compatibility

xen test cd doesn''t boot on thinkpad t60
Hi, This might be a bug report, but I ask here before I add a bug to bugzilla: When trying to boot the xen test cd, to give you a report of the functionality of my new thinkpad T60, I experience this cd doesn''t even boot on the T60. It stops at the grub boot saying "loading stage2", never doing anything else anymore. Burned the iso multiple times, it boots on other machines,

pcre library in R (PR#9319)
I have the same problem, trying to cross-compile. I'm running Ubuntu Edgy, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic, on an IBM T60. I downloaded the Makefile from CRAN and ran make CrossCompileBuild with the following error messages (also ran each make one at the time and the problem occurs in make R): ../extra/pcre/libpcre.a(pcre_dfa_exec.o):pcre_dfa_exec.c:(.text+0x1703): undefined reference to

What kind of frame rate hit can I expect in wine?
I just finally succeeded in making the world of warcraft work on my thinkpad t60, but I'm getting less than 1/5th of the speed that I was getting in Windows. Is that normal? I'm getting between 5-12fps regardless of resolution or windowed mode. Core duo 2ghz, 1g ram, ATI x1400, Ubuntu Edgy. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to cross-compile my R-package under ubuntu linux, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic, on an IBM T60. I am following the suggested steps in

building R-package under windows - error - in options("deafultPackages") was not found
Dear all, I have been building R packages under windows on my old pc, successfully. Now I have bought a new pc, still running windows, and I am trying to build the same R packages as before, but now without the same success. I have installed the Rtools, perl, mingw and added them to the environment variables. I am running Windows XP Professional on a Thinkpad T60. I have installed R-2.4.1,

strftime fails on POSIXct objects (PR#10695)
R 2.6.1 on a Thinkpad T60 running up-to-date Gentoo: Despite the documentation, which says: 'strftime' is an alias for 'format.POSIXlt', and 'format.POSIXct' first converts to class '"POSIXlt"' by calling 'as.POSIXlt'. Note that only that conversion depends on the time zone. strftime fails on POSIXct objects: > foo <-

FLAC, ogg and iRiver
I've seen in this discussion: http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/200304/0000.html that not only is it possible for the iRiver iMP-350 to play Ogg, it can also play FLAC - I didn't know this, and two question arrise: * It is possible to get the iRiver H120/140 to play FLAC (I know the Rio Karma can) * People sometimes say things like "Ogg is not tuned well for high bit rates"

iRiver
Hi, Does anyone (of the developers) know what's the status on the iRiver Vorbis support? Mainly I'm interested in knowing if it will be a firmware update or if they'll have to make a new player. I'm thinking about buying the iMP-350, but I don't want to buy it now only to discover that it will never support my favorite audio format. TIA, Alex --- >8 ---- List archives:

New iRiver Firmware supports Vorbis!
iRiver released some firmware updates today for many of their CD and Flash-based MP3 players. Among the added features is the ability to play back Ogg Vorbis and FLAC audio files. Interestingly, in order to make room for the decoders, they also _removed_ the ability to play back Windows Media Audio. It's unfortunate that they had to take out some capability, but I'd prefer Ogg to wma

iRiver iFP-790 and its Ogg Vorbis support
Does anyone have the iRiver iFP-790 player (or maybe any other one of their iFP-7xx series)? I bought this player very recently, and I have been having problems with Ogg Vorbis playback. It skips so much that you only hear music 20% of the time. Is my unit defective or does the player really have problems with ogg vorbis? I think mine even chokes on wma's encoded at standard settings. Any

Another portable player? (The iRiver iHP 120)
Hi all, My japanese is not so good ;-) But it appears that iRiver have released the iHP-120, and it includes OGG playback support. http://www.iriverjapan.com/product.php?product=iHP-120 If you scroll down to "Multi-CODEC" you will see that they use the words "Ogg Vorbis", not once but twice! I haven't seen it float past here yet, so I just thought that I would bring it

iRiver iMP-550
Hi everyone! I've just bought subj and updated the firmware to the 1.50b (beta) version. It plays ogg vorbis files, but only in a 96..256kbps range. That sucks because unfortunately almost every album of my music collection is encoded at q=9.2, and several bits, on the contrary, are encoded at very low bitrates like 60-80 kbps :( Well I can always reencode when I have time, but can

http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer/20040428/index.html The iRiver iGP-100 was just reviewed at Toms Hardware. They specifically mention that it supports Vorbis. Just thought I'd pass this along.
