rsync backup problems
I have FreeBSD 7.3 running rsync 3.0.7. I need to backup a remote server to a local drive. This remote server has several filesystems types that dont require backing up, like nfs. If I run the following command: rsync --delete -azHv myremote:/ /machines/myremote/ It will copy ALL filesystems which is not what I want, so I assume I need to do it on a per filesystem basis like: rsync -x --delete

2 ring delay before asterisk answer
I am a little green when it comes to all this but I am trying to connect our PBX to an asterisk server using a TDM400 with 4 FXO modules. I am able to dial an extension on my PBX handset and I get a dialtone from the PBX. After 2 rings I then hear the asterisk server connect and I get a dialtone from asterisk. I am then able to dial an extension on another asterisk server. My question is: How do

Shutdowns occuring without power outage.
I am running an older version of nut (2.0.2) on a FreeBSD 4.11 machine. This has been running fine for many months until the last few weeks. It seems that several times a week the machine is shutting itself down. Looking at the log files I notice these lines which lead me to think there is something wrong with the serial communication betwen my host and the Ellipse 600 UPS. Jan 5 04:49:02

V1.6.0 is not stable in IE...
Hi, I tried using v1.6.0 of the scriptaculous libraries (including latest prototype library) in one of my existing apps that uses the 1.5.1 version, and found that IE 6 was very unstable. Actions get slower and slower over time until the page is basically unusable. This continues until the browser window closes - a page refresh does not solve the problem. I can''t provide the exact code

Simple question about sortables...
Hi, I''m new to the prototype and scriptaculous (v1.5.1) libraries. I''m creating a sortable list using the code below, and I''m finding that while a list element is being dragged in IE, the element text is transformed to appear bolder than the original. In Firefox, the text becomes opaque. Is there anyway to stop this from happening, ie don''t change any

copying a vm to a different machine?
What''s the proper way of doing this? I have a vm that I keep shut off as a template on one machine. I''d like to push it out to other xen hosts. What is the best way of doing this? Shorewall 1.3.14
Shorewall 1.3.14 is now available. Thanks go to Francesca Smith for helping with updating the sample configurations. New in 1.3.14: 1) An OLD_PING_HANDLING option has been added to shorewall.conf. When set to Yes, Shorewall ping handling is as it has always been (see http://www.shorewall.net/ping.html). When OLD_PING_HANDLING=No, icmp echo (ping) is handled via rules and

Asterisk w/ Nokia "e" Series Handsets
Anyone using Nokia "E" Series handsets with Asterisk? I'm trying to deploy some e71's and am having an issue. I can get a single handset working, but when I try to create a SIP profile on the second phone, it won't allow me to save the profile, saying that devices in the same "realm" must have identical username and password. Anyone have a workaround for this

TE121B server recommendation
Hello, If anyone is using a TE121B card and it works reliably (i.e. no "HDLC Bad FCS" or similar errors), could you pass along the make, model, and basic configuration of your Asterisk server? We tried upgrading our old Dell PowerEdge server to a SuperMicro system, but that didn't help. I would like a solid recommendation before I suggest another purchase. Thanks. -- Kevin

Changing `security@freebsd.org' alias
Hello Folks, The official email address for this list is `freebsd-security@freebsd.org'. Due to convention, there is an email alias for this list: security@freebsd.org, just as there is for hackers@ & freebsd-hackers@, arch@ & freebsd-arch@, and so on. The security@freebsd.org alias has been the source of occassional problems. Several times in the past, postings have been made to

T.38 ATAs
Hello I am going to try the new Digium Fax for Asterisk product. I'm planning to connect fax machines to Asterisk (currently 1.6.0.9) via T.38 ATAs. I'm looking at Grandstream HT502 or Linksys SPA2102 ATAs. If anyone has any experience with these devices, or other recommendations, I would be grateful if you could share your experiences. Looking for a good lightweight Linux softPhone
I used to use IDEFISK, but since it was taken over/renamed into Zoiper it's been really hard work - now I'm told that they won't support my chosen distribution - Debian Etch - the current stable version of Debian I prefer. So, looking to dump Zoiper and go with something else - I want something light-weigh (So that rules out Ekiga - and Zoiper was going down the bloatware route
