Partial files cause: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(584)
Hello,
I am wondering if any of you have any ideas for what I am experiencing.
I use Rsync over a local network to backup files from a laptop to my main PC which is running the server as a service. These are both Windows 2000 machines running Cygwin 1.5.18-1 and Rsync 2.6.6. It works fine unless I turn on the partial file option (--partial) and then try to resume an interrupted copy. This is

writefd_unbuffered failed - Broken pipe on local rsync
I'm seeing an error that says there is a broken pipe, but the rsync
command is local to one machine:
/usr/bin/rsync -rltH --stats -D --delete --numeric-ids --whole-file
/data/dir /backup/suse1/suse1-data-dir/ >/tmp/rsync-out 2>&1
The complete contents of the rsync-out file are:

On client side (vista) I use rsync 3.0.4 (protocol version 30)
Capabilities:

writefd_unbuffered failed (when writing to micro SD cards)
I'm using rsync 3.0.9-1 in Cygwin to copy several directories to 32GB
micro SD cards in both WinXP and Win7. I randomly get this error
message; Please help me to debug it: rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed
to write 127 bytes to socket [generator]: Broken pipe (32)
I'd first posted this to the Cygwin mailing list with no response
after almost two weeks (and sent a reminder after one week).

rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(463)
Hi,
I'm having a problem rsyncing one file (since I signed it). It seems that
the content of a file is able to cause problems in the protocol.

Hi guys:
First post for me on this list.
THE PROBLEM
===========
I have several linux servers (ranging from Redhat 7.3 to FC3) that use Rsync (version 2.6.8 and 2.6.7, read on for reasons) to backup their data. A typical rsync backup script looks like this:

Rsync v2.6.9 hangs
Hi all
We have a legacy system, which utilises rsync for file transfer - but
occasionally hangs on the clinet.
We tracked this down to the read_timeout function in io.c. It performs a
select(), which appears to return a zero, so the read_timeout function
never exists. An strace shows what happens :
[root at tcu ~]# strace -p 10566
Process 10566 attached - interrupt to quit select(4, [3], [],

Connection to rsyncd over ssh tunnel seems to choke up (v2.6.9 Ubuntu)
I have been running the following (from a cron script with a non password
authorized_key exchange) ...

8873:127.0.0.1:873' rsync://localhost:8873/data/ /data/
... and not getting much to happen as either evidenced in
/var/log/rsyncd.log or as artefacts on the local file system.
Then I started to execute the

rsync v2.6.9: small patch fixing NORETURN failures
Hello,
as of gcc v2.7.2.1, the noreturn attribute needs to be given
*after* the prototype declaration and not before, but for
gcc v3.x, things changed for this attribute again, since
gcc v2.5.x did it the way, newer gcc versions prefer it...
I've applied a small unified diff, fixing this stuff.
THX for listening.

rsync 2.5.6, No buffer space available error...
I have seen this error in many postings, but the solutions seem not to
apply in this case. This error happens during a small file transfer
(gif image) and after 75% of a 165G rsync job (the building file list
portion is complete.) Most solutions I saw were related to not having
enough RAM or running out of disk space. Check out the machine specs
below the error.

writefd_unbuffered failed to write 32768 bytes: phase "unknown"
Hi,
I receive this error when rsyncing. I suspect this is because of network
problems. But the 'Invalid argument' and 'phase unknown' makes it very
unobvious.
