[PATCH][RFC] space saving incrementals
Please CC me directly as i'm not on the list. I have attached a patch against latest CVS (cvs diff -u) that adds the following functionality. I can break it up if you would prefer it in pieces. Comments welcome. o add compare-perms option This creates a new inode for a file even if only the perms have changed. This way if a file outside of destdir is hardlinked to a dentry inside

DIB_DirectDraw_BltFast
Hi, There is this (freeware) game called Dink Smallwood, which I would like to play and it almost works but not quite: You walk around in this game in a view from above, but wine does not draw the floor tiles, which is quite annoying. So I printed out the debugging-manual and tried to figure out, what's going on. There are two function calls, which I believe to have identified as the

xmms plugin
Anyone else hacked together an xmms plugin for Vorbis? I took my best shot at it based on the source and some of the info I've picked up off this list... I haven't really tested it yet, but I think with a little bit more hacking it might actually work. I can put the source up if anyone wants to dink around with it, but I'd rather just clean it up a little then perhaps ask xmms if

I just copied a file system using xfsdump|xfsrestore At least 1 new directory had been created on the source during the xfer (took 9+hours -- 7TB), so I wanted to verify I hadn't missed anything. OT: General Help in chroot build environment
I am trying to compile a module for a Realtek 8168 for thinstation. I have pulled the developer tarball and executed the script to enter its build environment. I also have the source for the module I want to compile, but when I execute #make clean modules it errors out. Reading the errors, I can see it tried to look for the kernel source of the systems actual running kernel. From within the chroot

Rails on Tomcat or JBoss?
Hi all, The Rails book talks about running Rails under Apache, but is there a (relatively) easy way to deploy it to either Tomcat or JBoss? Is the CGI servlet the only option? rsync ported to BeOS-bone
Hello, here is a preliminary patch allowing rsync 2.5.6 to compile in BeOS (using the new BONE networking stack). Some explanations: - BeOS doesn't have chroot(), - the BONE networking stack export legacy network function for old apps in libnet.so (linked to by default), so it's necessary to force linking to the new libraries for things to work. I've yet to get inet_ntop() to be

FW: Outlook .pst on a samba share; do or don't?
I'm running a new (6 months old) fast server, with an ultra-scsi RAID array . . . some of my workstations, however, are getting elderly: some are 5 year old 350Mhz machines, and my users are finding it faster to put their .pst files on their Samba-shared Linux home directories. (50 users, .pst files from 100mb to 1.5Gb). (yes, yes, I know, 1.5GB is WAY too big for a .pst file; its a constant

Ferret and Mongrel. OSX vs. Linux
I''m having a strange problem accessing a 1.7GB Ferret index from within Mongrel (1.0.1) on Linux. On OSX a Ferret search through Rails takes a fraction of a second. From the command line, bypassing Mongrel, the search takes about the same amount of time. On Fedora Core 4 a Ferret search from the command line takes a fraction of a second, but the same search through Mongrel never

How painful is the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade going to be?
Does anyone have a sense for how painful the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade is going to be for existing apps? I''m finishing up my first real RoR application with Rails 1.0. I can live with it staying at that level, but I really want to use the has_many :through attribute to clean up some of my code. I''m not particularly interested in edge Rails, mainly because the documentation for

Lots of zero-byte hard link files in cur (and new/tmp), cannot see messages in folder
Hello, I have an el-cheapo shared hosting account on Dreamhost, and have had it for a very long time. For the most part everything usually works fairly well, considering I do keep a lot of folders, and mail, on some of my accounts. They are running dovecot, but still don't have a response as to the version, or doveconf -n output yet. My problem is, one of my most used folders, which was
