Windows 2003, Cygwin, and rsync
I just installed Cygwin / OpenSSH / rsync on two Dell PowerVault 745N
NASes running Windows 2003 Appliance Edition. My rsync daemons are
running, ssh works, and in theory all is well. But... I'm getting an
average of maybe 15 Mb/s rsyncing between them.
Now, I know I have an issue in the way they're connected... one is
attached to a Cisco 2970 (1 Gb/s), which is attached to a NetGear

MS SQL server
Hello List,
I need to access some data a MS-SQL server ie run a stored procedure or
user-defined function or a select every so often maybe 3 times a day.
Have centos 4.5 on intel xeon. Is there an obvious certain-to-succeed
approach?
perl DBI + ODBC spings to mind, have not tried it yet - cannot access the
systems yet - need to make a good plan.
Am a bit concerned cos I dont know of an

efficiently synchronizing source and destination
All,
I have two fat32 formatted external drives (on the localhost) that
need sync'ing. Each of the drives contain different files. The end
result I'm looking for is two identical disks.
My question is whether or not I can encapsulate this process in a one
liner with rsync or if i need to make two independent calls to rsync
as follows:
rsync -av /path/to/source /path/to/dest &&

RV: cwrsync and CPU usage
Yes I?m using cwrync 1.2.4 that it contains the 2.6.2 rsync version command.
A problem I have to use cygwin is that I have implemented the cwrsync
command in a script .js (jscript) then... Should I make a new script bash
file for linux? or is it possible call cygwin?s rsync from a DOS shell line
command?
Thank you very much :)

Hardware spec comparison
All,
I've a question on A*k hardware.
I'm running 1.2.18 on a Dell DC051 (Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80GHz)
with 512mb RAM.
I'm supporting 60 users (Cisco 7940s each + Xlite PCs).
Call loads are low, max of about 10 simultaneous SIP/IAX calls.
CPU for A*k rarely goes above 2% as I can tell.
Its IP only, no E1/T1 cards present.
However, I get complaints of bad voice quality,

Logging only files transferred not directories
Hello,
I'm running my rsynce server on Win2k3 Server. One client under Linux and
another on Win2k3 Server. The problem is not really OS related though.
My Server 2k3 client command is:
C:\Progra~1\cwRsync\bin\rsync -rtv --ignore-errors --stats --delete
--delete-during --delete-excluded
--link-dest=/cygdrive/d/previous/c/backup.1 --files-from=files-from.txt

hotline with Polycom
Hi All,
This is more of a hardware question that an Asterisk question so I hope
this is still the correct place for the post.
I know with the Linksys phones you can create a hotline by using the
dial string of (S0<:number>). I have been trying to do this with a
PolyCom phone but I have not been very successful.
Does anyone know how to create a hotline phone with a PolyCom?

upgrade perl 5.8.0 -> 5.8.1
Hello List,
I have a few intel centos 3.9 boxes with perl-5.8.0-94.EL3 installed.
This seems like a very early version of 5.8 perl.
centos 4.6 has 5.8.1.
Would it be sensible to just upgrade to this rpm? I want a stable platform
for cgi. I suppose I could just try it, but these boxes are under a form
of change control and I think I should ask for advice before going that
route.
Many thanks for

Your xen stable upload
Hi,
I noticed that there's a xen upload in the stable-new queue, which
claims to have been uploaded by you.
I'm afraid that we can't accept it currently, because it is a newer
version than is currently in unstable and testing:

rsync on win32: a) slow, b) crashes
Server is Linux, client multi-boots Windows and Linux. rsync v2.5.5,
Windows 2K/XP, Linux 2.2.
Under Windows, it takes *forever* to receive the file list, and once
transfer is in progress gets under 1MB/s, compared to 6-8MB/s when booted to
Linux. Manual copy via SMB works at full speed regardless of OS.
And I have to --exclude parts of the filesystem that are (aparently) too
long, else it

Win2k, rsync, and ssh on cygwin
Hi,
The subject line pretty much says it all. Oh, that plus I'm tearing my
hair out trying to get it all to play nice together.

I'm trying to make one Win2k box rsync with another Win2k box. I managed
to get it such that an
