Browsing woes (con't)
As I posted a few days ago, >> When I try to browse from, say, my Win2K desktop, I get >> >> Windows is not accessible >> The Network Name cannot be found. >> >> But it _is_ accessible. SAMBA can still _see_ everything just fine - all >> the shares show up; all the printers work. It's just that nobody can >> browse. I've since gone

domain_master_node_status_fail
I'm trying to set up Windows browsing between subnets. I've set up a domain master/WINS server on the .0 subnet, and local masters on the .42 and .254 subnets, and I'm running into the above error on one - just one - of the subnets. The strange thing is that I'm running exactly the same version of RHEL on another subnet - and I'm getting no error. 3.0.25 on RHEL5. The

Account not authorized to log in
I've been running Samba 2.0.3 on my dg/ux box for more than a year, without any problems. Last week, I upgraded to Win2000 Professional, and ever since have been getting the dreaded 'Account not authorized to log in from this station' when I double-click on the machine's icon in 'My Network Places'. Normally, I've seen this as a password encryption problem - but I get

rsync version 2.6.3pre1 protocol version 28
Hi, this is possibly a bug report (I'm not sure if this is a feature). It's related to the --keep-dirlinks option, when combined with --delete . I have the following directory structure on server A: ls -lR software software: total 238 drwxr-xr-x 2 biolord bioinf 1024 Sep 20 10:49 EMBOSS/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 biolord bioinf 6 Feb 5 2003 MSE -> EMBOSS/ lrwxrwxrwx 1

twang - Toolkit for Weighting and Analysis of Nonequivalent Groups
The Toolkit for Weighting and Analysis of Nonequivalent Groups (twang 1.0) has been released to CRAN. The package collects functions useful for computing propensity score weights for treatment effect estimation, developing nonresponse weights, and diagnosing the quality of those weights. The package includes a vignette containing some basic theory and walks through two examples. It is available by

rsync not deleting files
This seems to be a common topic. I really _have_ looked at the archives before posting, though, and can't find anything that covers this. I'm backing up an entire server over the net, except for a few excluded files: echo `date` >/var/log/rsync.tolstoy /usr/bin/rsync -avHz --stats --delete --numeric-ids --exclude=/sys --exclude=/home/backup --exclude=/monthly /

Bug Report rsync 2.5.5 --delete and soft links to parent directories causes MAXSYMLINKS error
I have found an unwanted feature of rsync 2.5.5. It has to do with soft links and the --delete option in archive mode. The following shows how to reproduce the error. Provide a soft link that refers to a parent directory. %> /bin/ls -lR /tmp/src /tmp/src: total 16 16 drwxrwxr-x 2 wke sys_admin 239 Sep 17 16:18 dir1/ /tmp/src/dir1: total 32 16 lrwxrwxrwx 1 wke

UTMP problem and Samba
Hi, I have had a few tiny problems now that i have samba with utmp. First of all, I killed a few stray smb processes by using kill -9 pid. Well, this messed up my 'who' and 'finger' readings. Now I have this [root@lifesaver /]# w 11:20pm up 10 days, 8:47, 4 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT pshull

Permission denied & readlink errors
HI, I encountered the following errors below when using rsync version 2.5.6, with the options: # rsync -avzo --delete /src /dest I invoked rsync as a root user. The source and destination filesystems (both reside on the NFS disks), have been exported with root privileges. 1) This file below does exists, however rsync complained of a "No such file or directory" error: readlink

orphan dirs and files with --delete
rsync (2.5.[67]) --delete fails on dirs with the w bit cleared. (example below) Rsync will sync a dir with w bit clear, but will not remove it with --delete. This is not a big problem, but it will create situations where there are 'orphaned' files. Has anyone else had this problem? It looks like a change would be needed in robust_unlink (util.c). This function would have to do a chmod

IPC connections and utmp
Hi, I am running Samba version 2.2.5 with utmp turned on. I have a problem with utmp and not displaying who is currently logged in. The basic idea is that even though a user has logged off the computer (win2k pro) a connection to IPC$ remains. It gives this. [root@lifesaver root]# smbstatus -u scott Samba version 2.2.5 Service uid gid pid machine

Loading .RData from Internet
Dear All, Can you please suggest me a correct way to load the following R data frame from the internet and save it to the hard drive? The following is what I tried: > raceprofiling <- > read.table("http://rss.acs.unt.edu/Rdoc/library/twang/data/raceprofiling.RData") > save(raceprofiling, file = 'raceprofiling.RData') However, when I used dim() to check the dataset,

Unable to browse
I have two problems running Samba on Solaris 2.51, Samba version 1.9.16p11. 1) When browsing the CADCAM group, which is where the Sun group is, the CADCAM name shows up on Explorer, but when I click on the group to browse the contents, the '+' disapears and the group apears to be empty. We can, however, map drives using \\sun01\sharname' directly. 2) When we dial into the network
