adding a new log-format escape
I'm adding a new escape to log-format, %s, to print out the checksum
of a file, and I've got a couple problems. They've got to be simple
bugs, but I haven't been able to figure them out. The following patch
gives me a broken pipe and a bus error when I test it. Note that I've
applied the md5 patch beforehand.

handling duplicate names deterministically and adding alternative checksum algorithms
Thanks, rsync developers, for creating such a great tool.
I'm a member of a team of system administrators and integrators that
use rsync with SystemImager and Cfengine to rapidly deploy and
prescriptively maintain systems. Our current practices would benefit
if rsync were enhanced to handle duplicate names deterministically as
described in the todo list. If we were able to use rsync to

doveadm-sync stateful
Hello,
I'm trying to migrate mail accounts from an old server to a new one.
As I need to migrate dozens of accounts which take about 1G each, I need
to do stateful sync to make my migration in two times :
1 - I run a :
doveadm -D -o mail_fsync=never -o imapc_user=user1 at olddomain.fr
sync -s "" -R -1 -u user1 at newdomain.fr imapc: > /tmp/firstsync.log 2>&1

Problem with a if statement inside a function
I have a really long functions, and at the end of the function, I am using a
if statement
to tag certain keywords based on whether they have certain values contained
in them.
However, the if statement doesn't seem to work.
When I had split up the commands into various functions, it worked fine, but
I'm not sure
what going on now that it's combined into a single function.

2.4.9-ac18; issues with '/'
Hello,
I just went back to 2.4.9-ac18 from 2.4.10 (i386), and then
for the first time migrated all my ext2 partitions to ext3. I
did this over a series of reboots, as I confirmed that indeed
things continued to work. The last step I took was to convert
/.
I have set up /etc/fstab to mount my 'ext3' partitions with
'auto', I suppose thinking this will make it easier to roll

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre13 - RELEASE CANDIDATE
With some help from Nathan Laredo, I cribbed my way though porting the
Win32 installer on my own accord. Thus, I believe we now have something
which can be called a release candidate. Given how much stuff managed
to make it in, after all, I'm seriously considering calling it 3.00, but
for now it's 2.20-pre13.
So, everyone that can, please test it out.
In particular, I have not yet

Passive OS fingerprinting and conditional firewalling
Hi all,
there''s an interesting citaton on kerneltrap.org, mentioning the addition of
passive OS fingerprinting to the OpenBSD firewall
(http://www.kerneltrap.org/node/view/770 for those interested)
This new feature enables the possibility of triggering customized firewall
rules according to the (detected) incoming OS, in a fully passive way.
I was wondering if the above would be

Echo Issues
Hi all,
We have just installed a * server (CVS head) with a TE110P card and a
IDSN20 line, we are using the GXP-2000 handsets running the latest
firmware (.9).
Some of the calls we are receiving have echo at the our end (we can hear
ourselves speak).
We have a traditional ISDN telephone system here as well and when I make
a call from one of the handsets asterisk answers, directs the call to

stateful computation for web-based R across HTTP requests
Hi,
A friend just introduced me to R today and I think it is really nice after
browsing its web site. I'm eager to cook up some web-based interface to use
R at work for more platform-independent access. I plan to implement it in
a Python-based framework such as TurboGears or Django on either FreeBSD or
Linux platform. My question is: how do i maintain stateful computations

Problems with some components of R
Madam, Sir,
I have downloaded and transfered to my P.C (Window 98)
the version of R which has been split on purpose, that is to
say the rw0990b1.zip ,rw0990b2.zip ,etc files.
I encountered no problem as far as the installation is concerned.
But when I try to run some function ,for instance loess, it issued
an error message stating that an underlying Fortran program is not
properly loaded.

Stateful Takeover in a Cluster environment
Hey
I am new to Samba and have a few queries.
How can you archieve "Stateful Takeover" for a Samba Session
My goal is to get a samba service running over a cluster.
For the client it is transparent to witch server he connects.
If a node in the cluster dies, the connection will move with all the states
over to another node.
I know Samba 3 is not clusteraware, perhaps anybody knows

stateful rulesets with PF
I've read a bit about how keeping state works with PF and written
rulesets which look logical to me, but present some problems
intermittently. I believe it has to do with the creation of state
entries, and how PF judges what to do in any case.
> pass in quick on em0 from <trusted> to port any port = 3306 keep state
As I understood it, because I did not specify any flags such as

Stateful Webmail
Hello,
I'm a developer on the Orbited project (http://www.orbited.org), which
provides a TCPSocket interface in javascript (emulated over HTTP using ajax
and comet.) This TCPSocket allows true bi-directional communication between
a web browser and an arbitrary tcp server. One of the other developers
pointed me to a recent dovecot thread about webmail. Sorry for the new
thread (I just joined
