Applying multiple functions to one object
Dear list members,
I recall seeing a convenience function for applying multiple functions to
one object (i.e., almost the opposite of 'mapply?) somewhere.
Example: If the function was named ?fun? the output of
fun(3.14, mode, typeof, class)
would be identical to the output of
c(mode(3.14), typeof(3.14), class(3.14))
Is my memory failing me, or does such a function already exists in a

computing differences between consecutive vector elements
Dear R-users,
I am a newbie to R so please excuse this naive question for which I couldn't
seem to find online answers.
I have this data frame containing a series of locations through time
(x,y,z,t). I would like to compute the difference in x, y and z between t-1
and t.
Sounds easy enough, but how on earth does one loop through vector elements
and compute this difference?
Thanks
Thomas

Dir-merge exclude filter ignored when rsync DEST ends in /.
Hi,
I encountered this behavor when switching my excludes
from global exclude filter rules to dir-merge rules.
If the spezified DEST directory has a trailing dot dir
the exclude filter rule "exclude /foobar"
inherited from dir-merge is ignored
and the file gets deleted.
But I'm not quite sure if this behavor is a bug or feature.
Test:
$ mkdir src
$ touch src/object
$ echo

Selectively overriding --cvs-exclude option
Hi,
I've come across a situation with rsync which seems like a bug. I could
not find anything listed in bugzilla so am writing to the list to see if
it's just me.
I have a situation where I would like to upload some auto-generated
files to a website. However, I don't want these files to be included in
my CVS repository so I have added them to a .cvsignore file.

rsync, --cvs-exclude option.
Hi Martin,
Yes we can add "--include=*.exe",
But --cvs-exclude means excluding only CVS dir right, But currently it is excluding other also.
I am confused.

Daemon exclude fix [Re: CVS update: rsyncweb]

You should make it clear that, even after this fix, daemon-excluded
files are still vulnerable to a client that combines a --*-dest or
--*-dir above the excluded files (which the filter doesn't prevent) with
file-list path information. To close this vulnerability, rsync

work on OggFile/OggStream
I've rehashed the model for the libogg2 convience library, seperating it into
two libraries in the effort to allow 3rd party media frameworks to more directly
utilize the functions provided by OggFile, while still providing VorbisFile-like
convience for the most common uses of Ogg encoders/decoders.
In this new model, liboggstream provides the functionality of "codec plugins",

averaging 3D datasets
Dear R-users,
I've spent most of the day reading R documentation at length but couldn't
find something perhaps obvious.
I have a dataset made of 3 morphometric variables for a series of watershed
[log(slope); log(drainage_area); distance_to_outlet]
My aim is to predict the value of log(slope) for pairs of [drainage_area;
distance_to_outlet] (sounds like a plain linear model fitting,

samba dumping core with win 10
Hi, everybody.
I can't understand the nature of the exact error on my samba-server. I'd
be very thanksfull for some help...
Here's situation:

Exclude directories
I am trying to exclude a few directories from being copied to a 2nd local
hard disk. I have read the doc's, used the --exclude-from= to specify the
filename.. but
What confuses me is whether a directory listed in this file should have a
trailing / on it or is the file completely different fro what I think it is.
ie:
/usr/src
or
/usr/src/
Thanks
