I'd've been happy to stay with Gnome if whoever wrote metacity hadn't broken the function-key mappings. I use FVWM on Oracle Linux 6.9: USER RSS STARTED

Installing Samba on RedHat Linux 5.3
Glad to hear that you succeeded in getting Samba installed. Next steps to getting it to work are: 1) edit your /etc/samba/smb.conf file to fit the needs of your network. 2) use "testparm" (without the quotes) to verify that your smb.conf file is correct. 3) start your samba services with: service smb start service winbind start (if you need winbind) 4) connect to a samba share with

Iconified window is still open
I tested Converter application and noticed the issue when I minimize the main window. The window icon appears on the desktop but the application window does not disappear. This happens under kde 2.1.1 and under fvwm 2.4.0. With "managed" option the window minimizes normally under kde. Managed under fvwm it does not have "iconify" window button, system menu items

syntax for playlist
I should be more specific . What I meant to ask was - is it necessary for the directory that icecast streams or serves files from to "everyone" or the "world" have at least read permissions. I do plan to experiment with the permisions but I was just asking to see if any one had already tried this. I like to lock down my system as much as possible. Thanks for the help!

New minimal SMB2 client library !
Ronnie Sahlberg, Samba Team member - has written a new small-footprint SMB2/3 client library. Compiled size is 120KB (yes, that is *KB*, not MB :-). It supports signing, sealing, NTLM authentication (and krb5 with external libraries). It has *no* dependencies (other than the afore-mentioned krb5 if you need it) and is available for checkout and hacking at: git clone

nm-applet, wirless, and CentOS 6
I have a strange problem and I know I am doing things way outside of the box. First of all I don't like Gnome or really any of the mess-windows flavored desktop systems and no, I don't like the MacOSX flavored desktop systems (like Ubuntu's Unity) either. The 'desktop' system (if you could have called it that) that I learned on was DEC's 'DecWindows' system on

icecast 1.x vs icecast 2
If you search the archives someone posted an unofficial howto to get icecast2 started. Was immensely helpful on the config file side of things. I then stumbled across a short specification on the ices config file which helped me figure out how to properly hook up a perl script to ices. >===== Original Message From <ronnie@mixsessions.com> ===== >okay those are good reasons but

more on Diablo II (wierd problem)
Ok, I do have Diablo II working, mostly. At the moment, it only works under TWM (not fvwm which is what I normally use) and only in -win mode. The problem is that the first time that my mouse leaves the diablo window, diablo iconifies. Not a major issue, I just have to make sure that it's before I start playing. HOWEVER, after it's de-iconified, the keyboard get's somewhat screwy. I

NetworkManager under CentOS 4 *without* GNome...
I have been *manually* dealing with my wired and wireless network interfaces on my laptop. I have a pair of config files (in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/: ifcfg-eth0 (wired: Intel Corporation 82540EP Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Mobile)) and ifcfg-eth1 (wireless: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter), both with USERCTL=true (and ifcfg-eth0 also has ONBOOT=true). I have
