Failed to find domain 'NT AUTHORITY'
Hello, I recently set up a new software to backup samba share. This software ( https://github.com/borgbackup/borg ) run on file server as root cron script during the night and save file on external NAS. The problem I have is that for each file copied from samba share to external NAS, winbindd log an error such this to samba.log.winbindd and /var/log/messages [2017/11/06 11:05:16.747449, 0]

Managesieve problem
Trying to get either avelsieve or server side filters to work with managesieve. Managesieve is running but whenever avelsieve or the server settings backend try to talk to it the same thing happens. So I guess it's really a problem with something about managesieve at this point. I hit the Message Filters option, it takes a long time for it to come back, though it finally just times out and

"ls -l" command and performance of sftp
Hi all, I am using OpenSSH4.3p2. User database is stored in LDAP server. When I tried to list about 400 files using "ls -l" command in ftp and sftp, I observed that sftp took considerable amount of time greater than ftp. I suspect sftp does not cache the username and groupname lookups and makes fresh calls to getpwuid(), getgrgid() functions for each file that makes its performance

User idmap lost
Back on February 28, 2018, I started a thread "User permissions of profile/home directory lost" describing a problem occurring with my wife's user account. Since that time the random problem has persisted so I turned on some debugging. I have been able to determine that somehow her account idmap is broken. Here is the entry for my wife's SID as found in the idmap.ldb file

Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment, the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability. I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the right user and the "Domain Users" as the group. When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home directory from an XP

[patch] ssh.c load_public_identity_files calls getpwuid twice without copy
Hi, getpwuid is called as seen in the patch, and is then called again indirectly by tilde_expand_filename without first copying off the results from the first call. This is fatal on MacOSX (and it would seem it should be fatal elsewhere, too). Debian 9.8 and vanbelle-repos
Good morning Stefan, Hmm, yes, i notice some things also with the debian 9.8 upgrade, that killed my kopano server. Was a long night yesterday. :-( but fixed. Ive done all my servers here and no samba problems. I do know of more problems with docker. There is a small difference, i dont know exact were, but i detected that on the kopano forum. Kopano builds it packages within docker, the

winbind and enum groups

I have searched nearly the whole Internet for info on my problems ;) Right now I can auth Windows NT users on my Linux box (RH-8.0) with samba-2.2.7a-1. But my big problem is that when a user i authorized it can't find a group name for eg. 100000. I have been considering the following debug method : 1. remove the

Samba login failure: getpwuid failed
Hello, I cannot access a remote drive using Windows or smbclient; my authentication appears successful according to the samba log file, but `getpwuid` fails. The server (remote) is running CentOS 7.2 and Samba 4.2.3. The client is CentOS 7.2 and smbclient 4.2.3. sshd and pam_winbind (Samba)
Hello openssh developers, long time no see :-) there is a bug in sshd with *nix machines joined to Active Directory using Samba's winbind daemon. The problem is that with cold caches, a user logging in via ssh gets possibly the wrong primary gid assigned. Let me try to explain in detail: In Active Directory (AD) you only get a correct access token (group memberships of a user) during

Problem with Pigeonhole/Sieve
Hi Steffen, 248 is a dovecot, 202 is dovenull, both users are in theirs groups across. If I change ownership of /usr/local/dovecot to dovecot.dovecot, then dovecot is correcting it to root.root for some reason. Does it mean that dovecot should be running as root only? What does it mean / here? is it / in filesystem or it is / for dovecot in /usr/local/dovecot ? May 01 14:36:00 master:
