(code 12) at io.c(177) error
We are using rsync to backup files from a bunch of computers to a central
server using rsync in --daemon mode. I've got a problem and are looking
for suggestions.
I'm not a newbie to rsync and have checked the archives without getting
any useable conclusions.
Our old server works great - a redhat 7.2 / 2.4.18 machine. But it's
getting full and there's no more updates for

Install of R-1.7.0; permissions.
I just installed R-1.7.0 on our (solaris 2.9) system and was
pleasantly surprise by how well things went. The hang-ups that
occurred when I tried (and failed) to install R-1.6.2 did not show
up.
However there was one minor glitch: Some of the permissions on
the files in the installed version (in /usr/local/lib/R) were
wrong. E.g. here's a listing of /usr/local/lib/R/library:

Problem with mail_location and INDEX location
HI,
I'm pulling my hair out a little trying to get dovecot to save it's
index locally rather than in the NFS mount. No matter what I do it seems
to save the indices in the Maildir on the NFS.
I'm using dovecot 2.0.18 on CentOS 6.3.
The relevant config I'm using:
mmap_disable = no
dotlock_use_excl = no # only needed with NFSv2, NFSv3+ supports O_EXCL and it's faster

Another permissions problem?
The rebuild server is now almost complete. Dovecot is running, and I can
telnet and log in. In kmail on this workstation I have created an imap
account, for which Inbox was created. I also created Trash and sent-mail as
top-level folders, and they display correctly with the cur, new and tmp
sub-folders on the server. I now want to create subfolders of Inbox, and
there I'm coming

Looping over groups
Hello,
My R skills are somewhere between novice and intermediary, and I am hoping that some of you very helpful forum members, whom I've seen work your magic on other peoples' problems/questions, can help me here.
I have a matrix with the following format:
(i) individual plants comprising many different genotype groups (i.e., a plant is genotype 1 or genotype 2 or genotype 3, etc). The

smbmount filesystem weirdness
Hi all,
In my effort to get RCS archive access via smbmount, I stumbled across
another interesting bit of behaviour with smbmount that could be playing a
part - but does not involve RCS.
Normally, under Linux - or any Unix - the following sequence of commands
works:
[cpratt@cpratt-desk2 ~/dud]$ ls -la
total 3
drwxr-xr-x 2 cpratt users 1024 May 12 18:09 .

NFS issue
I am currently running K12LTSP on Centos 5, which is working well but
without sound on most machines(ok all). So in order to remedy this and the
cd-burning issue I have decided to try to install CentOS locally on one
machine and then apply the personalizations via NFS.
Steps:
I editted the /etc/exports to export the /home dir as per the NFS howto and
that seemed to work as the user homes were

Cannot delete folder
I couldn't find anything relevant between all the debug log lines. Is
that in /var/log/mail.log?
Here's the lines I think are related to creating and deleting the folder:
> May 21 10:36:14 mond2 dovecot: imap(yg@****.de): Debug: Namespace : /var/mail/virtual/****.de/yg/.Test doesn't exist yet, using default permissions

CentOS 4.3/postfix/procmail lock failures
Hello,
What is the proper solution to the problem below the sig?
For a similar issue, Phillip Guenther, procmail's maintainer, at
<http://article.gmane.org/gmane.mail.procmail/1623/match=error+writing+var+spool+mail>
suggests "chmod g+s /usr/bin/procmail", but I'm reluctant.
There are also suggestions that in this configuration the packager must
make certain that

Fedora 9 -> Centos 7 upgrade Dovecot problem
Hi all,
I'm upgrading my old F9 mail server to Centos 7 and all is going well.
However, I've got a problem with recently created users.
I've rsync'd /home and /var/spool/mail after moving /etc/passwd and /etc/group
I used the default locations on the old F9 server, i.e. mail delivered
to /var/spool/mail/%u by EXIM and Dovecot using that as the inbox.
Dovecot then used ~/mail/

Updated 2.2.8a to 3.0.7-1 and Cups went South
Mates,
On my Suse 9.0 pro installation, I updated Samba from 2.2.8a to 3.0.7.
The upgrade went flawlessly, Samba is happily sharing all the files it was
before. However, I can no longer print via cups. I have a HP LJ4 attached to
the Linux box that worked great before the upgrade. I have 2 XP clients. Now
from the Windows side, I get the printer status showing 'access denied,

Strange permission problem with Maildir
I have this very strange problem with Dovecot spitting out a file permissions
error but further testing seems to show it being an inaccurate message.

System users, mbox format and global ACLs
I need some help here... ;-)
I'm experimenting with global ACLs, but just fail to understand very
basic behaviors.
So, before digging into the source code, I would really be delighted
if someone could immediately point a mistake I'm making and miserably
overlooking.
The output of dovecot -n is provided at the end of this email.
Just in case, conforming to the suggestion made in

Using puppet with Apache mod_disk_cache and passenger over SSL
I have tried to setup Apache with passenger to host the puppetmaster but I
also want to cache. I have no problems running puppet within Passenger with
httpd. I also enabled mod_disk_cache within Apache. However, I still see my
puppet client htting the puppetmaster and the puppetmaster compiles the
manifest every time. In /var/cache/mod_cache, I can see that the data was
properly cached.
