rsync hanging on Cygwin
I'm trying to use rsync under Cygwin on 2 machines running Windows 2000
Server
There's a 2MB link between them and I'm using SSH setup for a passwordless
connection
rsync hangs part way through transfers and when run again hangs at the same
place in the same files with no explanation no matter what verbosity level I
set it to. Each time it hangs it leaves an rsync process running on

RSYNC Hang on client match_sums
Hi,
Got a strange problem with rsync ! Here is the story ...
I got a linux rsync server running for 8 months without any problem (rsync
2.6.6 18)
I got about a dozen of rsync clients (linux and windows, generally using a
2.6.5 rsync version) that synchronize their datas without any problem. Some
of them only synchronize a few datas (10 GB) and some others synchronize
large amount of data

cygwin tar?
I've been attempting to create a new R package and recently removed the
cygwin installation from my machine since R requires the use of the MingW
tools for building an R package with C code. However, when I tried to build
a source package, I found the following results:
* removing junk files
* building 'Rconifers_0.7-1.tar.gz'

cygwin rsync ssh hang. Solved?
The legendary cygwin/rsync/ssh hang problem. I have been tracking this
for a while now and can say that the latest cygwin install appears to
have fixed the problem on one of the setups that has consistantly failed
in the past. Have not put the update on to any production boxes yet,
but it looks promising. From the threads that I have read on the cygwin
mailing lists, it would seem that a

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
When using Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6/OpenSSH 3.6.1 for copying files from
Win2k->Win2k, I get 2 or 3 hung processes on the receiving-side out of about
every 50 runs. These hung processes cause the system to be unable to
reboot(?!), requiring a hard reset. Killing the processes allows a graceful
reboot every time. I'm currently running both ssh and rsync as services on
the recieving side.

Rsync 2.6.9 does not skip any files based on modification time
Hi
I am trying to rsync some ghost images from a windows client running Windows
XP to my Linux server. The problem is that rsync sends the complete files
again even if nothing changed on the client side. The only way to avoid this
is to use the "-c"-option but this takes nearly as long as uploading the
files would.
The server is running rsync-2.6.9, /etc/rsyncd.conf looks as follows.

ActiveState Perl, cygwin and R (was: cygwin tar?)
Hello!
I have just read mails in thread
<http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04a/0583.html>
about problems with Cygwin and Rtools. I had the same problems and kept
just the newest cygwin1.dll and things seem OK now. However I
currently hit the problem with Perl (I have ActiveState and Cygwin Perl
installed). When I tried to work with 'Rdconv' in Cygwin I get the following:

Q: rsync Windows --backup parameters
Thanks a lot ,
This explains a lot ("--backup-dir is on the remote).
I should have guest, sorry about this.
But about the fact that it is an old version, your right but :
- on Linux I tried to install the latest version 2.6.2, but the
"configure"command did never succeed :(, some problems
about not finding a valid cc or gcc. (/lib/libgcc_s-3.2.2-20030225.so.1)

opendir(somedir/somefile): Not enough space -- why?
I am attempting to use rsync to copy a large filesystem from an
HP-UX server to a Linux server with more than enough filespace.
This operation fails. A small directory from the same HP-UX server
can be transfered just as expected.
The HP-UX server is the source. It has 1Gb RAM - the output of bdf for
the volume the source files is on is:

writefd_unbuffered failed (when writing to micro SD cards)
I'm using rsync 3.0.9-1 in Cygwin to copy several directories to 32GB
micro SD cards in both WinXP and Win7. I randomly get this error
message; Please help me to debug it: rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed
to write 127 bytes to socket [generator]: Broken pipe (32)
I'd first posted this to the Cygwin mailing list with no response
after almost two weeks (and sent a reminder after one week).

rsync on cygwin: can't access mapped network drive remotely
I posted this message to the cygwin mailing list, but I thought I'd try it
here too...

Hello, I am using rsync 2.5.5 protocol version 26 with cygwin 1.3.10-1.
When I connect to a directory that resides on the computer, everything works
great. When I connect to a directory that is a mapped UNC drive, rsync

rsync *Still* Copying All Files?
Hi, all. This is my first post to the list, so please forgive me if this is
an old issue. I scoured the mailing list archives by hand and could find no
mention of it, and the official FAQ-o-matic mentions it, but doesn't offer a
fix that works for me.
I've set up an rsync daemon on Windows NT4 by installing the latest cygwin.
Using the cygwin1.dll and rsync.exe, I'm able to connect

rsync 2.6.2 hang (was rsync 2.6.2 crash)
OK, I set up a new PC with a fresh XP load to be my rsync server. Rsync by itself seems
to work fine (thank God. I'm going nuts.)
I am still having problems when I throw ssh into the mix. At least now, things don't
crash, but they do hang. The file list gets build, the transfer starts and it gets through
maybe a few hundred files, but then everything stops. All the processes are still

rsync 3.0.4 under cygwin: problems with --exclude
Hi all,
I'm trying to backup a disk using rsync but I need to exclude some folder.
I'm using rsync 3.0.4 under cygwin on a winxp machine.
The script that I use is:
# ---------------------------------------------------------------- #
SRCDIR=/cygdrive/d
LOGDIR=/cygdrive/f
BCKDIR=/cygdrive/f/Backup
rsync -auv --progress --delete --delete-excluded --log-file=$LOGDIR/`date

[LLVMdev] JIT on ARM
Forgot to mention. I don't know how well the canadian cross compile
stuff works in 2.5. We made some improvements in that area for 2.6. If
you have trouble with it, I'd suggest trying 2.6 (or even better, ToT
svn) and seeing if things are improved there.
