--delete-sent-files (AKA --move-files)
Yes, it's time once again to return to the subject of moving files. With the recent changes to the communications code between the receiver and the generator, there is now a non-clogging channel that we can use to signal the sender when a file has been successfully transferred, which allows us delete the original for all transferred files. I have in the past waffled on whether this feature

Rsync error on client end: unexpected tag 3 [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(843) [sender]
Hi guys: First post for me on this list. THE PROBLEM =========== I have several linux servers (ranging from Redhat 7.3 to FC3) that use Rsync (version 2.6.8 and 2.6.7, read on for reasons) to backup their data. A typical rsync backup script looks like this: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #!/bin/sh RSYNC_PASSWORD=<PASSWORD> rsync

Server option PrintLastLog does not work on AIX
Hi Apparently, the server option "PrintLastLog" does not work on AIX. The last login time is always displayed, disregarding the option. When browsing the code, I found out there are several functions in loginrec.c which solely handle the processing of the last login info (login_get_lastlog, getlast_entry). Since AIX does not provide such a function natively, the configure script sets

configure patch for Alpha/Tru64 Unix 5.1
I had to apply this patch to configure.in to get configure to run on Tru64 Unix on Alpha. The RSA test forgot to reset $LIBS. (The compile stopped with missing "zlib.h". I'll send more patches if required. :-) diff -ur src-2.9p1/configure.in src-2.9p1-local/configure.in --- src-2.9p1/configure.in Wed Jun 6 17:15:09 2001 +++ src-2.9p1-local/configure.in Wed Jun 6

Time for a new theora release
I believe it is time to get out a new release of theora. <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/-/issues/2319 > and <URL: https://github.com/xiph/theora/issues/17 > list a few interesting views on the need for a new release. I plan to wrap up a new release, and is working on it using <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/ > and the #theora IRC channel. So far I focused

patch to avoid race condition in rsync 2.5.6
There is a small race condition in rsync 2.5.6. When the transfer is finished, and the file is moved into place, there is a short time period where the new file is in place with the wrong permissions. When using rsync on a busy email server to replace the exim config file with a new file, exim will produce several complaints in that short period. This small patch fixes the problem, by making

Time for a new theora release
The theora master branch now contain every change I currently plan to include in the 1.2.0 release, except the last minute changes documented in <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/-/merge_requests/41 >. I do not expect to find time to get <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/-/merge_requests/36 > into a good enough state to include it in 1.2.0, so I'll just leave the

Time for a new theora release
Just a quick update. I plan to wrap up the new theora release saturday morning CET. Anything not in master by then will most likely have to wait another 15 years. I hope of course others got time to check out <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/-/merge_requests/ > and <URL: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/theora/-/issues > before this, but assume the relative silence on this list
