remote access info please
Hi ya'll,
I built a new CentOS 5.1 server for a client, housing a Lotus Notes / Domino
server, and various other virtualized IBM software server guests, and soon
will have to physically move that server to another distant location.
My question is that I will need secure access to those servers via X, not
just the C/L terminal. What do you recommend for a good secure CentOS
program which

FreeBSD 7.9-stable: weird messages in /var/log/messages?
Hello
One one of my stable machines I see these messages in /var/log/messages:

Does anyone know hwat the messages mean, or which part of the kernel
they are from?
Googling didn't help me.
The machine runs FreeBSD

Syslog via UDP for chrooted environments
Good afternoon.
I'm new to the list, so apologies in advance if the noob in me comes
through too loudly.
>From things I've read in the distant past, I have the impression that
the OpenSSH project tries to keep new features to a minimum, and there
are good security reasons to do this. That said, one feature that I
feel would be a good addition to OpenSSH is the ability to send logs

survival probability estimate method
Hi, I was reading a paper published in JCO "Prediction of risk of distant recurrence using 21-gene recurrence score in node-negative and node-positive postmenopausal patients with breast cancer treated with anastrozole or tamoxifen: a TransATAC study" (ICO 2010 28: 1829). The author uses a method to estimate the 9-year risk of distant recurrence as a function of continuous recurrence

Private Address Routing via Tunnels
Hi,
I''m trying to do some horrible private address routing between networks.
Is there a way to handle the following? I''m guessing policy routing
*might* be the way, but anyway...
Two networks, accessible via public addresses -- a /29 on each. Each
network, however, has more machines than this, so one also has
192.168.0.0/24 and the other has 192.168.1.0/24.
I have an IPIP

Tunnel-only SSH keys
Hello.
I once read somewhere that it's possible to limit SSH pubkeys to
'tunnel-only'. I can't seem to find any information about this
in any of the usual places.
I'm going to be deploying a few servers in a couple of days and
I'd like them to log to a central server over an SSH tunnel (using
syslog-ng) however I'd like to prevent actual logins (hence

extension of rsync on crypted files
Hello,
I am a french student and I have written a technical report on an extension of the rsync algorithm to crypted files.
I started from the situation of a client machine A user who doesn't wish to save an original file v0 and its successive versions v1 v2 v3 ... on a distant server B but rather to save the private ciphering of these files on the server. Let C be the cipher algorithm and

problem with -u option
This is my first attempt at using rsync, and I think I basically have it
figured out, except that something is awry with updating.
My situation is that I have a desktop in another city that I will use once a
week or so when I am there. I have a local computer that most work gets done
on. I wanted to set rsync to run nightly with a cron job to sync data, and
then promptly run again in the other

FWIW- Cisco 1750 dropped packets and choppy audio
This email is intended to document an issue for anyone searching the archives.
We had a problem yesterday with _all_ iax2 and sip sessions; no reasonable
conversation could be established due to extremely choppy audio in one
direction only (outbound from * to distant sip phones and distant * boxes).
We were running HEAD from June 8th.
While diagnosing the root cause, we monitored bandwidth

What method would you suggest for installing the Pinta screenshot editor on CentOS 6.4?
A screenshot editor needs to do a few things - but it must do these three
things easily and well:
1. Draw curved and straight arrows, dotted or solid line, with various
end dots and points
2. Draw open circles of various shapes to highlight areas of interest
3. Text easily without having to pre-define a bounding box for the ad-hoc
text

CentOS-6 : DNS resolver for ssh chrooted accounts.
Our firm uses a dedicated virtual host to provide ssh tunnels for
remote employee access to various internal services and for http/s
access to the outside world. For security reasons I would like to
have the remote users forward their dns lookups over the tunnel as
well. However, we recently chrooted a number of ssh users and these
accounts cannot resolve dns queries passed over the tunnel.

feature - VM gain adjust?
I'm toying with adding a feature request to provide some sort of
gain setting for voicemail when accessed from "certain" interfaces.
Maybe something like voicemail=6.0 (db) within a specific channel
section of zapata.conf corresponding to a pstn line.
Situation:
1. Someone calls into asterisk and leaves a voicemail. The sound
is recorded at some volume well below 0 db, and is

queue issue
I have a _very_ specific situation where I need queues to work in a very
specific manner - I need the queue to only accept one call at a time,
even though several phones are attached to it.
My memory tells me that queues might have even worked this way in the
distant past (pre 1.0)...but I am willing to be mistaken.
Is this even remotely possible?

My problem is on calls to or from the CO I hear a "pinging" (thing sonar

IAX2 update - timestamp issue within iax pkts
For those that might be using Cisco 7940/7960 sip phones and placing
calls across an iax2 link, we think the voice quality problem has been
identified and corrected. The dev cvs should be updated as of about
3:30pm CDT today (April 14).
History: Calls originating from a Cisco 79x0 sip phone and sent via
iax2 link to some distant * machine resulted in very poor quality audio,

Managing SIP hardphones call history
Hi,
I've been asked sometimes to tailor call history features embeded in SIP
hardphones.
For example, a cutomer wanted internal call to be taken out.
Another wanted calls to sorted according specific criteria.
1. Have you identified a phone offering the possibility to display as Call
History, an XML list produced on a distant web server ?
With this feature, you would simply have to tell the

Web site not responding with Firefox 52.6.0 (64-bit)
I don't know if this is a CentOS7/Firefox problem or one with the distant
web site slashdot.org. I can connect to it just fine with the latest
Firefox on my Windows 10 desktop PC, but not with Firefox 52.6.0 on this
CentOS 7.4 laptop. This has been an on-going problem for several weeks.
Google search results are sketchy. slashdot.org may have been a DDOS
target today, but as I write this

Remotely Access an Extension
Hi,
Is there any way to pick up a remote phone/extension wich is ringing
for a long time but no one is availabe to answer that call? OR the
scenario is like, suppose my extension is 1000, and I am working at a
colleagues desk. At this time my phone is ringing in my desk and I
want to pick up the extension I am presently at and get the call.
I have another question about the remote login. Is
