IE with Xover?
Hi,
I tried to run M$ Internet Explorer with CrossOver, it told me, it would
have been installed good and it would be ready to run but it doesn't come
up when clicking the icon. Why not? Can anybody help?
I'd appreciate cause I need to visit a homepage that seems to run only with
IE as it's supposed to... :( Oh well. Thank you!

[Bridge] MTU Question
I have a bridge that has gigabit interfaces. The machine in question has the
fun job of being a Bridge, Firewall and SMB server. Both of the Gigabit
interfaces are connected to workstations directly via Xover cable (well
MDI-X to be exact). My question is, if I enable jumbo frames on the gigabit
interfaces will that make any difference in overall transfer rate of the
bridge? I was thinking it

ISDN and Asterisk
Hi all,
I have a "Cologne Chip Designs GmbH ISDN network controller" and I want to
terminate voip calls via this ISDN card.
My question is:
How I must to wire the ISDN equipment with my ISDN card? With normal cable or
crossover? How I can to check if ISDN card is linked with ISDN equipment?
In this moment I have 1:1 cable between ISDN's, the mISDN is installed

Vservers and shorewall
hello
I''m using the 2.6 series 5 vservers on eth1 running on
debian unstable and I wanted two of them to be used as
"proxies".
One of the proxies has 3 interfaces (well 4 if you
count the ath0 interface whose traffic I''d like to
pass through the "vproxy"); one facing the hosts''/out
interface, one facing the "dmz" where two vservers

squares instead of font characters since wine-0.9.13
do you know why when running wine-0.9.13 and all later versions of
wine,
finale displays squares instead of font characters
and when running wine 0.9.12 everything displays ok?
I have checked with wine versions that I have compiled from source on
mandrake 10.0. The wine directory was left without any changes.
thanks

DAHDI Dummy for Linux VServers
I'm running dahdi on the host system, and have added the /dev/dahdi/
devices to the guest vserver as recommended in Beave's "Virtual Private
Asterisk" whitepaper (http://www.telephreak.org/papers/vpa/).
I tried copying libtonezone.so and libtonezone.h to the guest, but I
couldn't anything to replace zaptel.h in DAHDI souce (it seems dahdi.h
was deprecated?).

puppetd daemon vs. cron
Hi,
I''m running multiple vservers and have some aspects managed via puppet. I
noticed that puppetd consumes from 20 to 60 mb RAM and the longer the process
runs, the more RAM it takes. It looks like 60MB is the top what I measured.
Having a couple of vservers (11 in my case) this can already take up to 500MB
just for puppet! I''m wondering if there''s any downside in

Filter file: selected directories only
Hi!
I'm trying to create a filter file for rsync what saying which dirs to
copy. For example i need only /lib and /var/lib dirs from remote server.
I say:
rsync -f ". /tmp/rsync_dirs" --dry-run --verbose "remote:/"
"/local_dir/".
File /tmp/rsync_dirs looks like:
+ /lib/
+ /var/
-! /var/lib/*
- /*
This doesnt work: it copies all /var/ dir except contents of

Shell Expansion in logcheck.logfiles
I'm running logcheck on a machine hosting a bunch of virtual machines using
vserver, so I'd like to expand shell wildcards in the "logcheck.logfiles"
file. So instead of entering
/var/lib/vservers/v1/var/log/syslog
/var/lib/vservers/v2/var/log/syslog
/var/lib/vservers/v2/var/log/syslog
I can enter
/var/lib/vservers/*/var/log/syslog
which gets expanded to the same thing as

hello,
i was just trying to install the ogg package on my old 486 (~70 mhz iirc)
machine, but was not able to compile the libvorbis-package because
of: gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 6
i think that this is not really a problem of vorbis, but of my old
gcc-version (2.7.2.3). however, before upgrading gcc (and who knows, what else
needs to be upgraded, too) i would like

hang with rsync 3.0.0pre7 doing local copy
I've noticed the 3.0.0pre versions sometimes hanging while doing a local
