samba 2.0.6 on Irix 6.5.6m core dump problem (internal error)
Samba: binary kit from samba.org
Samba version: 2.0.6
computer: SGI indigo2 with a 250MHz 4400 CPU, 64MB RAM, Irix 6.5.6m
me: tarjei.jensen@kvaerner.com
It looks like every time smbd spawns, the child process seems to die a
horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.
The core file which I have examined says that the process died with

core dumped messages from tune2fs
I decided to start using ext3. My kernel 2.4.15p9.
I downloaded and build util-linux-2.11m
and e2fsprogs 1.25.
I compiled ext3 in the kernel.
I started converting my filesystems and thing went ok for the first few.
I then started getting the following on each additional filesystem.
[root@joker /root]# tune2fs -j /dev/hdc4
tune2fs 1.25 (20-Sep-2001)

cannot set right file's group after group mapping?
Hi All,
when i did testing with group mapping, i mapped a Unix Group(domadm) with Windows Domain Group(domain users). then i access a samba share from Windows Domain User(administrator), and create a file. but the file's group is still Windows Domain Group(domain user), not Unix Group(domadm). is it right? if it is, how should i check if my group mapping is working well? thanks a lot in

Samba on AIX, issues setting read-only flag on files through Windows Explorer?
Hello list :)
I am having issues setting the "read-only" flag via Windows Explorer on my AIX Samba share and I was hoping someone out there would be able to point me into the right direction to solving this issue...
I have on my AIX 7.1 system installed Samba 3.6.24 and configured, joined to our Windows domain successfully.
The samba binaries I got from perzl.org/aix
In my smb.conf I

getent group shows me twice user id in a group
Hi Samba list,
I have a Linux Samba PDC file server with a separate ldap machine backend.
Every thing works perfect. but the problem is that when I do a command
on the samba server:
# getent group | grep 1033
It gives me:
gname:x:1033:usr1,usr2,usr1,usr2,usr3
Some of the user ids show up twice. Why?
I checked ldap database and found that usr1,usr2 and usr3 show up only
once in

1.9.16p11 and Windows 95 app conflicts
We installed Samba 1.9.16p11 on our Solaris 2.5 Sparc server here and we
are
having some difficulty getting Windows 95 programs to access the Samba
shares.
Many of the programs work, and we are dedicated to using Samba, and we have
a lot
of stuff out there, and we are using it effectively. But we have a few
problems with a
few programs.
One of the possible solutions to this problem is to upgrade

network printers
Hi,
I've configured Samba as PDC. It is to serve Windows 98/2000/XP workstations.
Firstly everything works fine but with adding new users to the domain there
occurs serious trouble. The network printers begin to refuse access. And then
I noticed that the workstations begin to refuse access too.

many SSH connexions with dsynx/SSH replication
Hi
I am trying replication over dsync/ssh, as explained there:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication
I added the options below to dovecot.conf. It works, but it
seems there is a new SSH connexion for each user, which is a bit
overkill performance-wise. Since I sync as root, I guess there
is a way of haing everything on the same SSH connexion?

There must many other things you can do interactively, but I just don't

Or,
from the command line:

The most important thing to understand about these bash script filters is
that they allow you

hardlinking and -R (multiple source directories)
Hi,
now it's time to come back to this topic.
As supposed, the missing hardlinks where no issue of rsync. I am not sure
if pairing aufs (http://aufs.sourceforge.net/) and rsync -RH will catch
each and every hardlink compared to a single filesystem, but it seems to
work very reliable.
I tried mhdfs and aufs. Aufs is faster and very stable (I am on wheezy
kernel 3.2).
So at last I have my

automating smbclient tasks
Ladies and Gents,
My project requires me to share IIS log files with my Linux box.
The outcome of this solution is using Webalizer instead of horrid
Webtrends. I have testing most of this procedure, Webalizer does great
with the combined log files (using mergelog). In any case, I need to
script the download of the files from one server to another. I use

ESXi & Gluster setup options
All,
We are in the process of determining a virtualized infrastructure and
wanted to hear from
current users of Gluster and VMWare. What we were looking to setup was
an HA ESXi cluster
(2 heads) with gluster backend (4 bricks to start,
replicated/distributed), all backend connectivity
would be 10Gbe. Mainly the storage would be for VM images but may
include NAS files later.
