[Patch] Require extra --stats to emit heap statistics
Since the heap statistics were added, I have viewed thousands of rsync
reports (with --verbose and --stats), and not once have I had a need
for them. So for me, they're just noise.
Here is a 3-part patch to v2.5.6 that treats --stats in a similar
fashion to --verbose in that additional --stats will get you more
statistics. For this initial case, there's only one additional level

rsync out of memory problem
Using an rsync (V2.5.6, Tru64 Unix 5.1A) command of the form:
rsync -avz --delete /some/dir remhost:/some/other/dir
where /some/dir has about 460,000 files in it, I get:

Dirvish, --link-dest and permissions
(I'm not sending this to dirvish@pegasus because I think that this message
applies more to rsync's --link-dest option than to just dirvish.)
I recently noticed a huge spike in dirvish network usage and traced it to
files whose permissions had been changed. (with rsync v2.5.6)
I understand and agree that a --link-dest copy of a source file cannot be
hardlinked to, but couldn't a

rsync/cygwin - strange behavior with VFAT-formatted USB-disk
Hi,
we do a nightly backup using rsync (v2.5.6 as server on RedHat 7.3 and rsync
2.5.5 on Windows 2000/Cygwin). The backup media connected to the
Windows-Client is a VFAT-formatted Maxtor USB-Disk.
Everytime I run rsync from the windows-client, the following error occurs:

rsync.exe -avzr --compress --stats --delete --timeout=240 --modify-window=2

Annonymous access guest ok = yes
I am trying to get some printer shares to be anonymous access.
I have set guest ok = yes
but from the log file, it looks like if a username is passed, and a failed
lookup, it wont just default to annonymous. Is there another setting or
configuration that I need to add to get it to work?

rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (Broken pipe)
I'm experiencing some unexpected behavior with rsync v2.5.6. After
looking around it seems like several people have experienced similar
problems in the past, but those appear to be old bugs that are solved now.
Also doesn't appear to be any direct bugfixes made for this issue since
2.5.6.
The strange thing is that things seem to work when I use ssh for
transport. However now I need to

rsync+ssh2 from Tru64 unix to linux has intermittent hangs.
This is odd:
We're using rsync to mirror multiple directories from a server to
two clients. The server is running Tru64 v5.1a, client A is running
Redhat Linux 8.0, and client B is running Tru64 v4.0g.
The mirrors for both clients are running at the same time interval
(10 minutes, offset by 5 minutes).
All machines are running rsync v2.5.6, and using ssh2 v3.2.3 as the

[PATCH] Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen
Fix PAE shadow on a machine with RAM above 4G on x86_64 xen.
Currently, on a machine with RAM above 4G, we can not run 32bit VMX
guest on x86_64 xen, the root cause is that the PAE page table PDPT must
below 4G, this patch fixes this issue.
Also did some cleanup.

Piecewise
Hi,
I am a biologist (relatively new to R) analyzing data which we predict
to fit a power function. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to model
piecewise functions in R, where across a range of values (0-x) the data
is modeled as a power function, and across another range (x-inf) it is a
linear function. This would be predicted by one of our hypotheses, and
we would like to find the AICs

Frequency table
This must be FAQ, but I can't find it in archives or with a site search.
I am trying to construct a frequency table. I guess this should be done with
table. Or perhaps factor and split. Or prop.table. cut? findInterval? Argh!
Please correct me if what I am looking for is not called a "frequency table".
Perhaps it's called grouped data.

[PATCH, RFC] x86/iommu: don''t map RAM holes above 4G
Matching the comment in iommu_set_dom0_mapping(), map only actual RAM
from the address range starting at 4G. It''s not clear though whether
that comment is actually correct (which is why I''m sending this as
RFC), but it is certain that on systems with sparse physical memory
map we''re currently wasting a potentially significant amount of memory
for setting up IOMMU page

I have the latest version of Wine but after I configure the Ports from

I'm not sure if Wine is converting correctly ttyR0 to COM1 and so forth.
The result is that for the Hurricane season I can NOT use E-Mail under
