an unwanted chroot() call
Hello,
I am trying to run rsync under my own userid on a high-numbered port.
The problem is that, when I use the --daemon option, I get an error
saying that a chroot() call failed.
My config file does *not* have any chroot call in it.
How can I avoid a chroot() invocation when running as a normal non-root
user?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Using -F and -f
Hi all,
I'm interesting in using -F and -f options to generate
delta files to transfer to other computers not connected by
network.
I'm using cygwin whit rsync version 2.5.5 protocol 26, but
even if those options are explaned, I can't use them.
So I downloaded source for rsync+ but I'm not able to
compile it because I have this error messages.
$ make all
gcc -I. -I. -g -O2

rsyncd bug for sym-links
I'm 99% sure there is a bug in rsync when running in daemon mode on a
'remote' server. The bug is that when trying to rsync a sym-link, the
daemon 'leg' of the code strips off the leading path separator (for linux,
this would be a '/'). I have produced a 'fixed' version of the code and
we have been using it for at least 6 months. We've also used the

Is there a way to use swissvoice IP10 in MGCP mode behind NAT. I already
use this fonctionnality with a PBX other then asterisk, and it work very

Possible header parsing problem
Hi,
I ran into a problem wherein my mail client (RoundCube) would not
display a message from a Dovecot IMAP server (claiming that the message
had no content). The raw source of the message looked fine, but the body
structure returned by Dovecot only had the first text/plain part and not
the alternative text/html part. The message looks like:

Spacewalk? Local repo? Cache?
I have a mix of CentOS 5, 6, and now 7 servers at work. There are enough of them now that it is starting to make sense for them to get updates from an internal source.
I've seen RHN Satellite in years past. It looks like it may be a way to allow Windows admins here (familiar with WSUS) to update Linux boxes. A local repo might be easier to set up, but (as with Spacewalk) it seems like

smbfs failure mounting DAVE Macintosh share
Hi,
I tried to make my Linux box smbmount a remote share originating from a
Macintosh running the commercial package DAVE 2.5. The Linux box is a RedHat 6.0
with a 2.2.14 kernel (with smbfs inserted as a module) and samba-2.0.3; the iMac
ran MacOS9.
The directory to be shared, \\akemi\archivio, contained two files, aaa and bbb.
Here's what happened:

Crash dump in umount
Hello.
I'm having a 4.7Rp9 server which is since months quite unstable, so I've compiled a debug kernel and got a crash dump.
I'm a programmer and I know a little how to use gdb, I'm not so expert about FreeBSD kernel insides however, so I can't
get much from it. Any kind of help is appreciated.
This is the crash message:
