plugin not loading for model? (acts_as_ferret)
Hi all, I''m using the older win32 happy backgroundrb in combination with the ''acts_as_ferret'' install as a plugin. Since I''ve installed acts_as_ferret, I haven''t been able to get backgroundrb to start. It keeps failing at the ''acts_as_ferret'' method call in one of my models. Here''s a code snippet of the model: class Book

SAMBA 3.0.4 + LDAP + usrmgr
I've upgrade to Samba 3.0.4 a System wich it's running SLES 8. The System is working with LDAP and smbldap-tools 0.8.4 for managing users and groups. I'd like to manage the user and group with usrmgr.exe running into a Windows 2000. When I tried adding new user the programs didn't work and it's reported an error. The log system running in the PDC [SLES 8], reporting:

What has been swapped out?
I have a SunRay server that I am looking at to determine some sizing requirements in my department. The machine has 16G of ram and 10G of swap. Currently, I have about 4G of swap used. I am wondering if dtrace/mdb can be used to find out what lwp/processes have been swapped out? Any hints? This message posted from opensolaris.org

computation with vectors of length 0 (PR#2716)
Full_Name: Klaus Hermann Version: 1.5.0 OS: SUNRAY - Unix Submission from: (NULL) (213.61.59.254) if we produce a numeric vector of length 0 and want compute the sum over its elements the sum function returns 0 - this is obviously misleading. Better would be to return NA and give a corresponding warning. There should be a unified strategy to handle vectors of length 0. For example the functions

Unable to create directory?
I have tried to install the pls.pcr package, but as a install newbie, I wasn't too successful. I tried the command "install.package("pls.pcr",lib="~/lib/R/",CRAN="http://mirrors.sunsite.dk/cran"). The download seemed to run smoothly, but in the end I got the response "ERROR: cannot write to or create directory '~/lib/R'" Before I try to get

x11 and pseudo-color
for some reason the following message seems not to have reached the list in the first try, at least I can't find it. my apologies if this is my fault: we are running R under Solaris with SunRay Terminals, which are set to 8 bit color to comply with some other software. In this configuration, X11() opens with colortype=true, i.e., it is not recognized that actually the display is only 8

Running R [Broadcast]
In the R-2.3.0 directory, what do you get if you type bin/R? Does R starts up OK, or do you get an error? What were the last few lines of output from running configure? Working with different Linux Distributions makes the life harder. So far I have found out that 'poweroff' & 'reboot' has the same behaviour on Linux/Unix/BSDs. samba3 win2k roaming profiles.
I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and Samba 3.0.1 and I can't seem to get roaming profiles to work right. When there are no profiles stored locally on the win2k machine, and a user logs in for the first time, it successfully reads the profile from the server in the \\netlogon\Default User share. Next, if you manually copy the profile to server and login to the workstation, it

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
[ I don't think it is a samba trouble, but indeed some clue... ] A user of mine have a rather complex Thunderbird local folder email archive, in a network folder (P:\Mail), with CSC enabled (it is a portable system). Rather frequently (at least once a week) in the share a 'disk folder' (a directory) with the same name of the 'file' of the email folder get created. Because

Does rsync support resuming feature?
Hi All, Does rsync support resuming feature? Now, this is the case, when we back a 4GB file, for example. I have backed up for about 2GB in progress, and we found this is a connnection problem to Internet, so we simply re-plug the net-cable and do rsynce again. Currently, I found rsync have to re-transfer the 4GB file again. Is there any way out of the problem or simply an option will do?

Error recovery
I am trying to figure out what happens in the following scenario: I use rsync to copy files from hostA:/dir1 to hostB:/dir1 with the command (from hostB) rsync -abvt --delete-after --suffix=~ hostA:/dir1 /dir1 So if fileA exists already on both boxes (it has previously been rsynce-d) and fileA changes on hostA. rsync starts from hostB, fileA starts transfer. If the transfer aborts before it

[LMTP] sieve filter does not drop privilleges?
I have (user) sieve filter in my home dir. This filter uses "vnd.dovecot.filter" extension to call some shell scripts. These scrips creates some temporary files. Strange thing: whent sieve is called via dovecot-lda - these files are created by user "kjonca" when sieve is called via lmtp - these files are created by root. Is there any way to drop privilleges where lmtp passing

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
Hi, In my experience Thunderbird does not work on a directory that has CSC/offline files in use without major problems. We use shares that have no offline caching in use for Thunderbird profiles, and those work only when the user is online. Whent that is not an option: put your profile on %localappdata% with no synchronization at all. As long as you access mail only via imap (no pop3) and you
