rsync on Windows 2000?
What is the status of rsync on Windows 2000? I was looking to install it on my test system, and the download directory has a readme file that says I need the cygnus gnu-win32 library. The link refers me to the index page for cygnus, with no way to get to a download area. A google search shows many mirrors of the download directory. All I have checked are completely blank. I will confess

[PATCH]: Cygwin: Changes to cygwin contrib area
Hi, the following patch changes two files in the contrib/cygwin subdir: It changes the Cygwin specific README file which adds some hints related to the new feature to switch user context without password (which means using public key and/or rhosts authentication). Some old stuff is erased. The changes to ssh-host-config are intended to allow an easier startup for users which are new to Cygwin

Rsync service on Win2k?
Hi all, I'm trying to get rsync running on a Windows 2k box (my tape backup server) to remotely back up stuff from a few unix boxes. Not my favored constellation, but there's not much I can do about that. I'm hoping someone could give me a quick tip or two on getting rsync working as a Win2k service. I'm not real proficient with Win2k, so be gentle. The posts I could find

Permission problems running rsync as a Windows service
I've spent a long time searching the archives and can't find a solution to my problem- apologies if I've missed it. I've been running rsync absolutely fine for a couple of months on Win2K server using Win2K & WinXP clients with a 'regular' service installation using cygrunsrv (below). It works excellently except that all the files transferred by rsync have the

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
When using Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6/OpenSSH 3.6.1 for copying files from Win2k->Win2k, I get 2 or 3 hung processes on the receiving-side out of about every 50 runs. These hung processes cause the system to be unable to reboot(?!), requiring a hard reset. Killing the processes allows a graceful reboot every time. I'm currently running both ssh and rsync as services on the recieving side.

Xen guests clock is exactly 2 hours before dom0 time
Hi list, one and hopefully last strange thing I figured out ist the systime of my guests. Dom0 uses ntp for time syncronisation. I set the time on my guests manually but after reboot any machine (Windows server, XP, Freebsd, even PV Machines like ubuntu) all run local time - 2 hours. /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock is set to 0 so actually the time should be set by dom0...(?) rsync on cygwin: can't access mapped network drive remotely
I posted this message to the cygwin mailing list, but I thought I'd try it here too... flip --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, I am using rsync 2.5.5 protocol version 26 with cygwin 1.3.10-1. When I connect to a directory that resides on the computer, everything works great. When I connect to a directory that is a mapped UNC drive, rsync

SCTP support for the common openssh source?
Greetings, Are there any plans to import SCTP support to OpenSSH? There have been SCTP patches for OSX and FreeBSD, and those seem to work pretty decently. I guess there might quite a number of potential users for SCTP were it part of the common source tree. A second benefit of having SCTP support as a standard feature in OpenSSH for all platforms supporting SCTP would be kind of social pressure

Behaviour that I don't understand
I am trying to set up rsync as a daemon under WindowsXP (professional) in order to be able to backup this machine on to a linux server. I am struggling with an issue I don't understand. I don't know whether it is an Rsync issue or a Cygwin issue, so I am asking both mailing lists. My WindowsXP machine has ip address 192.168.0.25 and name rabbit.home My Linux machine has ip address

Using rsync for two-waz-synchronisation
Hello, is there any way to use rsync for two-way-syncronisation? I want to use it to keep the data on two hosts consistent. Sometimes one of this hosts (sometimes the first, sometimes the second) changes its location. If the two hosts are at the same location I want automatically rsync them. The data only changes at one hosts but it is not defined on which host it changes. For example: I have

"missing secret for user" using cygwin rsync on Windows XP Home

[PATCH] Add service dependency to network
Hi, Cygwin only: Under some circumstances, the sshd service gets accidentally started *before* the network service has been started up. The reason that this can happen is, that the sshd service gets installed without a dependency to the network service in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config so far. The below patch fixes that by adding a dependency to the "tcpip" Windows service. This

[PATCH/cygwin]: Revised sshh-host-config script
Hi, could somebody with checkin rights please apply the below patch? It would be helpful to have this in 5.9p1. I revamped the Cygwin-specific service installer script ssh-host-config. The actual functionality is the same, the revisited version is just more exact when it comes to check for problems which disallow to run certain aspects of the script. So, part of this script and the also

[PATCH] contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config: Improve support for automated updates
Hi, The below patch fixes two problems. The first one is a better support for automated scripts. The old script had a logic problem when it came to asking the caller for the user account to use for the sshd service. The second is a problem in the usage of eval. Could somebody with checkin rights please apply the patch? Thanks, Corinna Index: contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config

Building Stand-Alone NT Installer. Need Advice on File Structure. Thank you!
-- Hello Everyone, I am trying to build a stand-alone installation application of OpenSSH 4.1p1-1. The target of this project is the NT platform (NT/00/XP/03). I've met with success and am happy so far with the progress. I cross-checked all executables and DLL's for dependencies. All executables and DLL's should truly stand-alone (dependent on nothing outside the enclosed tree).
