binary copies vs ascii copies
I have a question about rsync, which is new for me. Hope you can help me:
I have copied a binary file whose size is about 100 MB using rsync and I noticed that it takes a lot of time.
The same size with a text file wasted really much less time.
That binary file is incremental, i.e. it started with a size of 2 kb and then it grew up.
But now I am confused with the following:

[new user] some features requests ...
Hi,
After many tries, i''ve decided to give up dynamic websites, which
definitely do not match my needs, and instead replace my blog by a
webgen site. I''ve however some unanswered questions.
1) RSS
One of the main interest of dynamic website is the ability to provide
user a view to last updated pages, thanks to RSS. Is there a way for
webgen to generate a RSS file from last

Encrypt/decrypt in R
Hi all,
Does any one know of any encryption/decryption algorithms in R? I'm
not looking for anything robust - I want some way of printing output
to the screen that the user can't read immediately, but can decrypt a
little later. The main thing I don't want to the user to see is a
number, so (e.g.) ROT13 isn't appropriate.

ext2online: 873646830 is a bad size for an ext2 fs! rounding down to 873644033

Basic questions about RMySQL

Please forget me if I am asking something that is well documented. I have read documentation but there are points that are not clear for me. I am not expert in R nor Databases, but if someone direct me to a tutorial, I will appreciate it..
1. In my understanding, I can install and use RMySQL withouth having to install MySQL in my PC, to have access to and to create new tables . Is this

ess completion
The thread is strange to me as well, since completion is logically impossible for my
Sweave files.
- an emacs buffer is open working on an .Rnw file
- there is no copy of R running anywhere on the machine
- the code chunk in the .Rnw file refers to a R data object saved somewhere else
Of course it cannot do "name completion" on a bit of code I'm writing, lacking

Installation of Rails without ''gem install rails''
I am wondering if anyone has any procedural documentation for installing
and using Rails from the standalone packages rather then via ''gem
install''. It seems there should be some steps outside of simply
unpacking the tar ball in order to integate it with your Ruby
installation. Seems every bit of installation documentation I can find
has ''gem install

Timeserver sending wrong time to Windows Clients
Help Andrew! and whoever else..
I have a Linux Mandrake 7.2 box with Samba 2.07 acting as a timeserver
for our local lan. We are in the CST timezone. All windows boxes sync
thier time from the Linux box via: net time \\Nemesis /set /yes. I would
like to have xntp keep the clock on the server updated.
Problem:
ntpdate and xntp work great at setting the Linux box hardware clock to
GMT.

Question about Survey Package
To whom it may concern,
I have a question referring to the calculation of variance estimation of the survey package
I need to estimate the variance for different Domains but for a stratified sampling desing in several stages. Särndal et al (1992), CAP 10, makes reference to this problem.
My question is if it is possible by means of "survey package" to obtain these

Maybe it's in the wine tree but at the time being it's not activated when you build the prefix because up to now I've not seen it in system32/winsxs.

Hello all,
Is there any way to connect postgres with Xapian?
So that data can be indexed and searched with the help of Xapian but to/from
Postgres.
So, it would be great to integrate it with application which is database
centric.
Waiting for reply.
Thank you

[LLVMdev] CMake pools for linking?
Hi,
I've noticed on both PCs and ARM boards that it is the linking process that
"brings down" the system (makes it swap if it is not equipped with plenty
of RAM). So I have been thinking if it would be possible to use the CMake
pool feature to make the LLVM build system only issue one link command at a
time - it seems a bit unfortunate that N simultaneous link commands are
issued

Hi Andrew Morton,
The patch "[patch 05/22] ocfs2: lighten up allocate transaction" in mm tree

The issue scenario is as following:
When fallocating a very large disk space for a small file,

Multiple Ethernet Cards: Ignoring one of them
Hello,
I have recently had 'Broadband' (Cable) Internet installed in my house

my Windows PC. This system has worked well with the PPP modem, and I
know that a full Proxy server would be better, but at the moment I
haven't got the time to set one up etc.
This setup worked fine:
