copying pointed to links
HI,
I have a filesystem containing a symbolic link.
pglc0003> ls -l |grep TA
lrwxrwxrwx 1 cleaw adm 26 Nov 19 17:23 TA -> /pgadm1/adm/cleaw/tempArea
I'd like to copy the symbolic link TA to the /tmp area, I'd also like to have the directory tempArea from /pgadm1/adm/cleaw/tempArea
to be updated in /tmp by just copying the symbolic link. During this process, I wish

rsync's "value to large" error.
HI,
I'm trying to transfer a list of files within a filesystem to another filesystem. I've used the option:
# rsync -avzol --progress /wp05/global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/ /nfs_proj/global/WP/
However, it had produced the error below:
building file list ... global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/wp_celtic_max_fullwarn.tcl.log: Value too large to be stored in data type
# du -sk wp_celtic_max.tcl.log

Value too large for defined data type
Howdy,
I am just starting to use rsync and now have an rsync server set up
to back up our
various machines. I recently started getting an error that is confusing and
I can't find info
documented on it. I searched the news group and found it mentioned but no
solution yet.
I get the error when sync'ing from a Solaris 8 machine to my Solaris 8
server.

smbd -D hangs
I'm testing both sunfreeware and official sun (sfw) samba on Solaris
10. For some reason since yesterday, the smbd process just "hangs" at
the start.
No log is generated on server side
Where smbd is started, I can't find any open port on 139 or 145
My OS is Solaris 10

puppetmasterd --mkusers
I''m trying to run puppetmasterd the first time with --mkusers. It
fails with the following error message:
001 # /usr/bin/puppetmasterd --mkusers
Could not configure for running; got 1 failure(s)
Adding --verbose and --debug does nothing to improve the output. How
do I begin to debug this?

3.6.10 file handle leak under ancient 32-bit kernel
Hello,
I've come across a curious issue with
Samba 3.6.10.
When running 'emacs' version
GNU Emacs 23.3.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.0.6002) of 2011-03-10 on 3249CTO
on Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 and issuing
a file "revert" of one sort or another
against a Samba-served file, the 'smbd'
process leaks two or three handles.
Eventually, when 16k handles are open,
this causes

31K failed stat64's when viewing a simple (no db) rhtml page?
I''m trying to help the sys admins of my server figure out what is up
with our Rails installation (debian sarge - completely up to date).
Hitting a simple page yields 31,000 failed stat64''s and takes anywhere
from 8 - 44 seconds. They #! for ruby is correct everywhere, but it''s
like it can''t find Rails. These are box stock standard installs.

Problem with Share Size
Hi all,
I have a problem with samba : I can create files, but can't create directories.
The server has many shares, on seperated disks.
We consider two of them : one 2Tb share and one share with more than 7Tb.
Samba configuration is good, and works on many other servers, and on this one except for the large share. Permissions are correctly setted up too.
I can read/write files and

rebuilding rpmdevtools from epel5 SRC has fc7 dependent
hello,
I'm suprised that an SRC.RPM from the rhel5 repo needs a file from FC7.
I grabbed rpmdevtools from
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/
it rebuilds fine as EL5, but when I go to install it, it requires a version of rpm-build higher than the C5 base version (4.4.2-37)

Error rebuilding PHP5 under CentOS 5
First off, I apologize if this is off-topic.
I'm sending it to the CentOS list because I would have to believe this is a
configuration issue of the packages CentOS/upstream are providing. In any
case, I have to start somewhere.
While re-building PHP5 under CentOS5 (to enable Oracle functions via the
--with-oci8 option), I receive a compile error while compiling cast.c
because the

Problem rebuilding glibc for xen
I would like to rebuild glibc specifically with the -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs
to allow better performance with Xen.
I'm using Centos 4.2 x86_64 on an Athlon 3200+. I'm using the
2.6.9-11.106.unsupported kernel for reiser support.
My thought was to download and install the SRPM and then rpmbuild with no
changes to make sure it works before adding the above flag.
Unfortunately, the

[PATCH] Config: Check timestamps on directories when rebuilding transfer iso
We don't currently detect if a file with an old timestamp has been moved into a
directory. This fixes that.

[LLVMdev] Rebuilding llvm-gcc
One thing I have never been clear about is whether llvm-gcc has the
correct dependencies to do a restrap after LLVM sources change.
That is, if I have a built llvm-gcc and I change some LLVM source file
and rebuild the LLVM libraries, can I do a "make restrap" on llvm-gcc
and expect it to work?

[LLVMdev] Rebuilding LLVM libraries with LLVM-GCC on Windows
Hello
> In order to avoid the set jump/long jump dependency of DLLs built under Visual C++, we're trying to build the libraries and tools under LLVM-GCC so it will use DWARF exception handling instead of SJ/LJ. The problem we're running into is that the libraries that we just finished creating cannot be found later in the build process when OPT tries to build. My partner has MinGW
